I'm liking the look of that head unit. I would love to put in a new one on my 96 ZJ but I don't want to give up using my steering wheel radio controls. Does that one support using the wheel mounted controls?

yes it does but ducttape, I have a 97 ZJ so we have the same dash. The double din will not fit without modification to the dash, we have an odd 1.5 DIN. You're gunna have to cut apart your dash and also depth is a problem. This particular unit is going to have MANY wires and its 7 inches deep so you're going to have to be damm goood at stuffing wires and you should still measure it.

also, tsconver, did you make sure that the the alluminum bracket doesnt interfere with the ventilation of the headunit. I noticed a fan on the back, so it probably sucks air in from somewhere, and with a system that encodes and decodes video, audio, nav and everything, it could probably heat up. yeah just make sure it has some breathing room and your good

this unit is only 6 inches deep, and the WJ is is only 1 1/2 DIN as well. I had to custom fit it. The ZJ may have less space to do the modifying in though.

WJ actually has a lot of space in that area. Should be plenty of space for ventillation back there, stuffed wires to both sides slid right in so I think I am good.

yeah us ZJ owners dont have much space to work with. I could have sworn it was 7, but maybe it was 6.5 deep? Either way, I doubt we'd be able to hack away a ZJ and make it work. Heres some inspiration for your WJ, I cant take credit for the picture but its been done right for sure. Looks like a whole custom fascia

Yeah, there is no way that I could possibly make my dash look as nice as that on my ZJ. But I might make a trip to pull-a-part sometime and try to pick up another dash bezel that I could try to modify it and see what it would look like. What are the dimensions of the front of the unit?

added pictures of it with a few coats of silver, I do not like it so going to try black. The white is not bad in the pic you posted

The front is 7 in wide and 4 in tall. The depth is 6 1/8 in. Need 6 1/2 in for space for wires and air circulation.

I think I am done for now, pretty satisfied with outcome. It is a little shiny yet, but I used a matte black, looks shinier than it really is.

no bubbles, think it is just because of the camera angle and lighting. Wish I could get a closer match to the ac controls.

paint was a black trim paint was supposed to be matte, is a bit shiny but not nearly as shiny as gloss.
