do you really need to buy the $64 hella offroad wiring harness?? can't i make my own?

i feel like i can do this way cheaper than the hella nice plug and play deal. i'm putting 4 hella 4000's up on a light bar, the wiring harness says it's good for only 2 lights, so i'd have to buy 2 $64 harnesses for 4 $126 lights!! yeah right. and then i'd have 2 switches for those 4 lights because they can't all be wired to the same switch....i'm guessing it'll get to hot?? i don't know. how have you guys wired your auxillary lights, what relay's have you used, where are you drawing your power from, where are you grounding? i need some light bar basics/aux lighting basics...any help or explainations would be greatly appreciated...thanks alot.

i have a 98' 2,5L manual TJ.

$64 for a harness is too high, KC's wiring harness is priced at less than half of that and they are essentially identical. A 3 second search using www.froogle.com/ produced this... http://www.google.com/products?q=KC+...Search&show=dd where you'll see several at $28.99 on the first page, maybe there are more for even less past the first page of that search result.

Yes if they are 50-55 watt lights but no if they are 130-150 watt lights.

Once again, it depends on the wattage of each of your lights. Do you know what their wattages are?

if you're running a relay in between the switch and the lights then you can use 1 switch for all 4 lights. You'll just need to split the switch output to 2 relays.

If you don't care where you're going, any road will get you there.

you could run 100 lights from 1 switch. ...it's the number of relays that count

like jerry was saying, if they're 55w'ers, then you can run 4 from 1 relay triggered by 1 switch. if they're higher, you should run 2 relays triggered from 1 switch

100x means 100 watt? Ya have to start thinking/talking in watts here.

Good enough, that confirms you need two relays since you want to run four 100 watt lights. A single pair of 100 watt lights draw pretty close to 17 amps and a relay is only rated to around 25 amps so you'll need a second relay for the second pair of lights.
