cheap console/overhead console for CB?
I'd love to have a secure place to put my new CB, something like THIS but not at such high a price. I remember seeing a similar product but a lot cheaper. I think it was made by a kind of private dealer, not a familiar company. I remember it was priced very fair something like $80 and it was a very basic overhead console for things like CBs. Does anyone know what I'm talking about or have a link to this guy's site?

I built one this weekend for like $20.00 in parts from Home Depot. I'll take some pics this evening after work and post them. I can describe it if you'd like, but the pics help.

I've seen ones like these that I was thinking would be great for a CB, but nothing for Jeeps. JC Whitney
If you guys that made them can think of a way to do it with an XJ let me know

The one I made looks similar to the CB rack. Mine screws into the winshield and mounts to the rollbar. I just couldn't see paying that much money for something so simple.

I don't see where a CB would mount to the CBrack. It just looks like a slab of steel. None of the pics show a CB mounted on it either, what's with that?
UPDATE: never mind, I just found THIS

I'm with EDM0656 on this. Go to your nearest scrape metal salvage yard and ask for some 0.125" sheet metal the size you need or close to it. Cut to the shape you want and drill holes to fit your vehicle and CB/Scanner or switches. Good weekend project. Luck,

I finally got some pics.
Here is a link to the album http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4288073631&congratulation_page=Y I have a few things left to do like attach all the padding and I'm going to cut up a rubber floor mat for the top to give it a neat appearance. Then secure the padding around the front.

EDM0656, Look Good. Did you add the tubing from the rear bar to the front ? If you took a flat sheet and added it to the entire length using small HD U-Bolts then you could mount a switch panel, etc...Like the CBrack setup. Luck,

Thanks! That's not round tubing it's 3/4" alunimun square stock from Home Depot. I just wrapped it with pipe insulation, also from Home Depot to give it that nice round appearance. I made an aluminum strap between the 2 pieces and used hose clamps around the roll bar to secure it in the back. It's completely removable. I can add more sheets of aluminum if I have a need to, but I like the look of it now.
