This is what I replaced mine with. Works as well as the stock sub, but it can handle more power than the stock if you wire in your own amp.

I replaced mine a few weeks ago, think it cost more to ship it than the sub itself cost. Got the sub for $9 and some change. And there are options out there, not just the quadratec junk.

Thinking about doing the same, but just using the enclosure with a new sub to free up my cargo space and remove the 12" sub and box.
don't want to use the OEM amp, have a sub amp already.
Anybody know what the best sub is that will fit in the console enclosure?

And who do think sells it quadrtek. I didn't say there was only one place to get it. All the ones you find are the same sub.

So your saying that the oEM with untreated paper cone and foam surround, quadratec drop-in with treated paper cone and rubber surround, the pyramid which requires that you remove material to make fit
, or the kicker 6.5 sub which also requires mods to fit are all the same?

I guess my definition of direct replacement if different then yours. Cause the way I understand it is "direct replacement" means no modification required. As in a straight drop in. But I could be wrong.
