Im gonna get either one or two amplified speakers from radio shack for the PA, but what wires and stuff do i need and what wires and where do i look or get for installing the CB?

Hey all you need is a 1/8" "headphone" plug and speaker wire. You might need a power wire for the amplified speakers. Although I would go w/ unamplified speakers, because you won't have to remember to turn down the cb's volume. Volume set high = really bad sounding pa w/amplified speakers
Use 18ft of 50 ohm coax (perferably "minnie 8") and don't coil up the excess or you will create a choke. Run a power wire directly from the battery with a capicator(noise filter) in line and keep your grounds short.

Its pretty easy to do just do the steps above. The biggest tip i can give you is that the 50 watt powerhorn from radio shack has a mountaing bracket in which to holes that perfectly line up with two hole near the front of the car under the radiator. It fits good. just modify the bracket with bigger holes for stronger bolts

good advice so far but let me help you with an easy trick to get power to the CB. go pick up a cigarette lighter adapter from your nearest radio shack that has places where you can screw in the lose wires from the CB. i have this set up and it works great.

Jay,
If you took off the lighter and ashtray, and if the wires from the lighter are still there (and working), you can use them to power your CB

This might give you some bad electrical noise in the CB, it's generally recommended to power directly from the battery.

If amplified you will have to run power to it.

I would recommend getting a PA, not a speaker. The PA is designed different from a speaker and will perform better. I have an unamplified PA from radio shack, it cost about $25. Unless you are really wanting to bother somebody you won't need an amplified one. I mounted my PA in the front of the engine compartment on the driver’s side. I had to take out one of my horns to get it to fit. Than all you have to do is run the wire back to the CB and plug it in using a 1/8 in mono plug, too easy.

Any pictures of where people installed their PA Horn? Also do you just shove the white power wire into the 1/8" "headphone" jack?
Lastly is there anyway to get the PA horn to sound nice with the amp? |
