CB Newby Question...

I just bought this radio new from Ebay for 23.00 (Midland 40 Ch CB Radio 1001Z)
Is this radio decent or is it outdated and that's why it was so cheap? I have the item already and it is unopened in original packaging. I only want to use it for trail rides and emergency situations should one arise. I will pair it with the Ultramount CB Antenna System and 4' FireStik. I want to know if this will not just fit my need but is it reliable as well? Any info, experiences, or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have found that even a very low-end radio will perform very well with a decent antenna that is set up properly. Find a buddy with an SWR meter who knows how to use it.

Well this is looking good then....My Father in Law has an SWR Meter and said he would give a hand with the install.
Its got a PA Switch, Squelch Control, Instant Emergency Channel, I don't think I need much more than that.
