CB Mounting Location

Well, since I can't do a search with a word under 4 letters, it makes it hard to search for threads about "cb mounting locations" so I'm just gonna ask...what's a good spot for a CB in a TJ, or a good mounting spot for an XM Satellite radio as well? Thanks, and sorry for posting on something that's been covered so much already!!

There's not alot of places in the tj, I have mine mounted on the dash using the change holder tray, I ran screws thru the mount into the plastic, I run cobra 29 radio which is kinda large, so this was about the best place for me without having any sort of overhead storage. I have seen some smaller radios mounted in the arm rest of the center console, Also tuffy makes a box that goes between you windshield and roll bar, It mounts to the footman loop and then to the rollbar, It is really nice but pricey...

That's the problem...I like that Tuffy box, but it's way too expensive for what is and the purpose it serves.

I really like the Cobra 75WXST CB. It has a remote receiver mount that fits behind the TJ glove box. All the other controls, including the speaker, are contained in the hand set. Wayoflife has a good write-up on it at 4x4xplor.com. The installation is VERY clean and compact. You won't have dangling cords in your field of view or wires getting tangled up across the interior.

What you see in the photo above is it. That hand mic is the only visible part of the CB.

This is where I mounted mine. Very easy to set up.

Angle Iron painted black. Mounted it to the holes in the role bar.

Also check out this link. Lots of ideas..

A few months later some employee at a Local shop decided to Steal my upper door 1/2's (zipper style) , Shifter knob , that Neon light , Amp , Sub , 2 D rings , CB radio............. and he got caught stealing my Starter

The worst part is the shop wont give me they kids name nor would the press charges and the police said i cant do crap cause they had a sign posted saying not responsable for theft or damages ........ They Told me i would be stored inside at night now why was my TJ parked on in the darkest corner of the lot away from sight from the road ?

Its ok cause after I Bad mouthed that shop on a few local clubs messageboards they had lost 2/3rds of their buisness

I've been looking for the best place to mount that is also anti-theft deterent. Looks like you can just stuff the hand set underneath and nobody would know you had a CB, right?

Yup, I just unclip the hand mic and toss it down near the gas pedal. It's hard to see there. For longer term storage, you can detatch the cord from the reciever and then there is nothin to see on the inside.
