CB antenna mounting location/clearance

I've got a cb already mounted and wired in my jeep but, the antenna I use isn't very good.

I was looking to get a wilson 5000 trucker: Here

I believe the site says 49", I park in a garage and there is only about 7" between the jeep's roof and garage or 3' between hood and garage.

So, I was looking to mount it like this:

What are the negatives to this? Is it worth the nice antenna?
Any comments are appreiciated thanks

It should get bigger if you click on it, it almost fills my screen.

I'll see what I can do though.

Why don't you get one of these? Just fold it over when you get home. I think it would be better than the setup you are suggesting, although I have never tried mounting an antenna at that angle before.

That is perfect!

I've seen some 18-wheelers with there antennas at angles; but I am not sure if that would decrease the range to the point were a cheep short antenna would do the same.

Antennas work best and have the most range when they're at the same angle as the other antennas they are communicating with. CB antennas are generally always vertical so your antenna will work best if it is also vertical.

I'd probably just install a quick disconnect between the antenna and mount to cope with your garage ceiling height. A quarter-turn and the antenna just lifts off so you can easily remove it when you're not using your CB. Remember to adjust your SWR with add-ons like a quick disconnect installed since they make the antenna longer which affects its tuning.
