No. You need one thats firering compatible.

Firestik SS34M Combo. Medium Duty "SS" Spring & Stud Mount - Electronics Superstore www.WalcottCB.com

That one will work, or
Firestik K4R FireRing Stud Mount - Electronics Superstore www.WalcottCB.com
plus a spring of your choice.

BTW, A spring isnt required. It'll add height to the install, and it'll add some additional flexing to the antenna, which may stress the mounting location, and add to the possibility that the antenna may smack the jeep if its caught on something.

I personally wouldn't use a spring with that antenna and mount. A firestik is a pretty strong antenna, and the possibility of it breaking is pretty poor. I'd only put a spring on it if it were mounted at or near the roofline.

Ok so other than this FireRing Stud Mount...do I need anything else? I'm going to have to pay for shipping and I don't want to leave anything else out again.

As best as I can tell, the only thing you are missing from your above pictures is a stud mount. Spring is optional, and if you dont get one now and decide you want one later, thats something that pretty much any truck stop would have, and i'm sure there are plenty around you.

Got it ordered, thanks for your help!

Once I get it in, then I'll need some help with the install.

I purchased a mount similar to what you're using. I believe FRMRVette started the original thread on that. But the he was getting poor swr readings and i think it was attributed to poor grounding and the amount of antenna above the roof line, so i then bought the items pictured below. FrmVette told how he ran his wire form the back up to the front, i belive he went up the rear pillar, through the headliner, then down the A-Pillar? Or did he pop off the plates on the bottom of the door openings and run it down there? Sorry im not much help, once i get my jeep back from the shop this info will certianly be needed. I'll look for that other thread, i believe the word firestik was in the thread title if that helps at all...

Also i would consider using the spring (I wont be on my magnetic mount) but for a rear body mount i would suggest it. If not for breaking the antenna, to keep that mount from ripping the sheet metal screws out of the body of your WK!

Aw ha! Here's the thread on a commander... Should be somewhat similar. As the first post mentions, i believe he obtained poor SWR readings with both the 3' antenna and a 102" whip antenna with the mount in that location

Actually I did read that thread...but was hoping some of the WK's would share their mounting and wiring info. I'd like to be able to say I installed all this myself, but I'm tempted to just bring everything to Best Buy and let them install.

You may have better luck posting a thread in the WK section. It's rare that I ever stray from that area of the forum and i imagine that is the same for many others as well.

Well originally I posted it there, but requested it be moved here since it was electrical related. Maybe I can get them to move it back. I haven't even seen any WK's with CB's on this forum.

The WJ, for the most part, had panels attatched with friction mounts, they popped on and off pretty easy.

The WK is similar. I installed a rear radio antenna, and some rear lights in one, and was pretty much able to run the wiring behind the panels, and under the door sills to the front.

BTW. Low SWR readings is probably going to be due to bad grounding. Make sure the mount is grounded well.
Even with a 3 foot antenna, enough of the antenna will be above the roofline.

That's where more debate came in on the earlier mentioned thread. The top of the antenna is for the receiving and the base for sending? Or vise versa... I love the way it looks mounted on the back, and i really only want one for entertainment more than for regular use. Honestly i had never even heard the term SWR before that thread. As a kid on family trips we had a cig lighter powered cb and a little 18" magnetic mount antenna, worked just fine and im sure the SWR's sucked on that setup

the ENTIRE antenna radiates. sends and recieves.

I dont know why theres debate at all on how RF works.

The more of the antenna thats not obstructed, the better radiation there is. However, if both a short and a 102 inch antenna arent working well, then its very likely an issue with the mount, not the radiating portion.
The mount needs to have a good ground to the vehicle.

Does the other thread use the same mount?

The one thing I cant figure out at all, is the mount appears to be powdercoated completely. That means it'll be electrically isolated from the body of the vehicle, which cannot be correct.

Are you referring to the mount I bought from Saguaro?
