Brake light not working - bulb NOT burnt out?

EVIC message popped up on the dash that the left rear brake light/turn signal has stopped working.

The running light still operates, but the brake/turn signal lamp does not.

Okay - easy to fix with a new bulb.......

Replaced with a new bulb - not working??

Took the operational running light bulb and inserted it into the brake/turn signal - not working??

Right rear (and 3rd brake light) still operating fine.

Other than the dreaded 'loose ground' scenario, any ideas??????
