Icarus, sorry you had all the issues with the SSV enclosure. Mine was near perfect. I just took the doors off and the top down, and the systems can overcome road noise, etc, without distortion. Jeeptree, let me know if you have any questions. I'm glad this thread has helped out.

Frenchy. How did you get the cd holder in the console out. Those top rivets are tough

Just finished last week The SSV enclosure for me was awesome The sound system is incredible with everything I did. Nalin inserts for 5.25 speakers in dash, new monster wire to each speaker, amps, 10" sub The jeep rocks

I'm sure it sounds great, however you have no more space to store stuff.

Very true but I love bass and I think it's worth it. I'm sure one twelve would sound fine and you'd still have a trunk. But I'm willing to sacrifice trunk space for sound quality

A sealed 12" subwoofer can easily only take up half of the space behind the rear seat of a standard TJ and have the correct volume dimensions, though that is specific per each subwoofer. Ported subs tend to be around 2X the required volume than a sealed sub, and then you need to add the port ontop of that aswell. The ported alpine type r 12 box i made fits behind my backseat and leaves me about 5-6" width of storage left on one side of the trunk.
