It was a little rough inside, but nothing I haven't seen before on a fiberglass enclosure. I think the max sub depth is 3.5". You will need a shallow mount sub. Look on crutchfield.com and see what's available in a 10" shallow mount. Then look on eBay for a good price. I ended up with the MTX. Very clean, deep bass.

Use a little poly fill if needed.

I was thinking polyfill too. I have a stereo guy helping me with this, so will see what he says when I show it to him. He's gonna laugh at what I paid for it though, lol
I'll see what he suggests for a sub too. Then we need to figure out an amp. I want to go digital so I can hide it better and he thinks we can find something good to suit it.
I got a great deal on some Polk 5.25" MM521. I'm planning on using these in the dash and sound pods with some polyfill in the pods too (not sure on pods for the dash yet, not even taken the covers off!) Was going to use some Focals, but this was a great deal.

Change of plans in mine, lol... Not getting the Polks, but my stereo guy is getting some 4" with seperate tweets he thinks will fit in the existing pods and sound better than un podded 5.25's in the front, and some coaxials for the rear and a shallow 10" for the box. We are going to try hiding a 5 channel digital, and run it all off the amp. Possibly a new deck too! So much for my budget! Cool

Not much to see pic wise thats not floating around the forum already I don't think?

I'm still extremely unimpressed with SSVs customer service, they sent a list of subs that they said fit as the shallow mount Kicker CVT10 I was planning on using doesn't even come close to fitting, and when I asked about a specific one on the list, they didn't know if it fit for sure, so I asked what the list was for and no answer of course!!

Today I got doing some of the dismantling of the old, and wiring/mounting the new, and the new front speakers don't fit in the pods
The rears fit perfect, ran new wire front/rear to speakers, ran the rcas, padded rear pods, kept mucking with the fronts and got nothing else done, lol... Going to see my stereo guy in the morning to see if he can help with the fronts, or if we need to order different ones again...

Any 10" shallow mount sub that has a depth of 3.5" or less, will fit.

Hey Icarus,

I'm in Ontario Canada too! How did the install go? Happy with the product? I'm also considering this item, but also a little concerned about the quality for the price tag.

If your talking about the SSV box, I'd make one, or have a shop make one next time. It would be cheaper and the service sucked there.

I don't know if it'd be any cheaper to have one made. I looked into it and it would have cost me many hundreds to get a box made. Too bad about the customer service.

How did your install go? What sub did you end up running?

The guy helping me said it'd have been a lil cheaper to make one, but I got screwed on the shipping as I mentioned.

The install has been on hold over the holidays as I've had lots of family here and been all over, and been working too between. I think a MTX or JL(JBL?) was ordered in the end. I'm just doing the wiring/preping/helping install etc, the actual hardware is my stereo guys dept as I don't know much about what is good/not. I've been trying to keep a lower budget too, which doesn't help (and this box blew that away already!) lol...

Hows the MTX working for you?

Just got my Compustar remote starter and goodies for it the other day too, which I need to find some time to put in now as well!

I made a SirGcal sub enclosure for my TJ. Works fantastically. Replaced the bottom of rear seat.

I made a ported subwoofer box for my TJ, bought Alpine Type R SWR 1223d from Crutchfield for $110 brand new. Away from my jeep for the holidays but will post a writeup once i finish it up in a week or so. Its 18" tall, 11" bottom depth, 7" top depth, 25.5" wide. Will go flush up against the passenger side wheel well in the trunk and the sub will be centered behind the back seat. Plan to bedline the box. Calculated the port using Torres calculator.
