Antenna Plug or Short Antenna?

Hello,

I installed the SkidRow mirror relocators and removed my antenna because the passenger mirror now touches the antenna. I have XM anyway so I don't really care about regular radio. I would like to plug the antenna hole with a screw or maybe take my dremel and cut the antenna down? What do y'all think of that? What's the matching thread size for the antenna and/or should I just cut my antenna down to fit...or does it even matter if there's nothing in my naked antenna hole?

You are talking about your standard broadcast antenna, why ruin it ?

Take the antenna off of the vehicle and put it away just in case.

The open hole can be blocked in a lot of ways but thing waterproof.

This will bump you TTT, maybe someone that konw what they are talking about will help you.

Luck,

Yup, standard broadcast antenna. I think I'll look for an old antenna from a salvage yard and cut it down so I've got a perfect plug...unless there's a perfect thread match that you know of?

...and thanks!

I ran without it for a long time, just unscrew it, what's the problem with it?

No problem with the antenna, I installed Skid Row mirror relocators and the antenna touches the mirror now - I don't like that. I just want something to plug the antenna hole or just make a stubby antenna from a spare.

Just to clarify I was thinking do not cut the original antenna save it and block off the hole in another manner, just as rastadog picked up on. The idea of blocking the hole I said to think waterproof, no matter how rastadog decides to block the hole he should make sure it is waterproof.

I'll try better next time...
