Another Sirgal Box build and install!!!! Sounds Great!

Chris @ Sirgal is the man for an Awesome documented box build. Took one day to build/seal and one day to install!

http://www.sirgcal.com/

I am using a 1100W Pioneer pushing 2 Sony Explode 1200W 10" Slim mount subs (Sony XSLB10S 10" Slim Line Subwoofer with Enclosure). The Boxes actualy fit PERFECT side by side behind the seat of a tj but I wanted the room back.

After it was all said and done I had $130 in the Subs, 1/2" MDF, Wood Glue, Liquid Nails, 3M Spray-on Bed Liner, and 3M Ruberized under coating.. The Sound quality is 10x better than the original Sony boxes behind the seat. What a great design!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How is the lower bass notes with the slim mounts? Are u worried about using the 1/2" mdf vs 5/8" as far a strength? You should have more air space with the thinner mdf over his original plans. I was going to do the sirgcal, but decided to do a single ported 10" for the back. But I may go with the sirgcal with the 1/2" and get another sub.

The factory sony boxes were 1/2 thick also, I have used 1/2 in the past and as long as it sealed and glued it will be fine. The Plans that chris did could be modified a bit to increase some air space if needed. It sounds Great, much better that the boxes I have had behind the seat. My next mod is some sort of Amp Rack....

I like how you mounted the subs over the carpet instead of cutting the carpet outside of the sub like alot of people do. Looks so much cleaner. Some say it doesn't seal as good, but it's no different then a normal carpet box

Lots of Heavy abuse later and it sounds Perfect! Anyone who rides in the Heap is amazed by how hard it hits and clean it sounds. Truly great cheap set of Subs..!

Where did you mount your amp? I'm contemplating either 2 sd-2 10's in the gcal box, or 3 8" sd-2's sirgcal style with one more sd2 8 in the console. I'm already tired of my loss of space with my huge ported box...and I have no idea where to put the amp. You have any vids of the subs playing a song with lows? This thread really makes me want to jump on making the in seat box.

I've often wondered, does this affect the LATCH system in any way? I have a carseat in mine, and I've thought several times about doing this, but haven't pulled the trigger just yet.

It doesn't affect the latch. If you look under your seat you'll notice the fabric kinda sags down. It just fills that void. That combined with the little bit of foam being cut out, makes room for the box. It doesn't affect the structure of the seat at all.

Sorry, just seen this.

I ended up making a rack in the back of the seat tor the amp. In the same fashion as the box. Same concept. I don't have pix but if you feel around you will notice the void in the seatback.
