Amps Under Rear Seat

Hi, I'm thinking of places to put 2 Alpine amps in my 99. I know a number of you have installed amps under the rear seat. How do the amps hold up under there? Do they get overheated?
Thanks
Joe

I have a 600 watt amp under my rear seat and it has never overheated. It's pushing two 12s. I also live in Mississippi and in the summer it gets to over 100 degrees and still no problem.

As long as there is an air gap it should be fine.

I put my Rockford Fosgate 500 under the rear seat and have no problems with heat down here in Phoenix AZ where temps exceed 115F daily.

I have two amplifiers, one for my highs and one for my subs. Both are under the back seat. The highs amplifier is cooled by a fan and stays fine. The subwoofer amplifier is not and will overheat on hour+ car trips at full tilt.

It really depends on the amp and the duration of use of the amp. Alpine makes a solid amp, they should be fine. You can raise the seat using body lift pucks if you want more airspace.

I have a 4-channel Eclipse amp for my speakers and a Alpine Mono for my subs. The 4-channel is fine under the back seat since it doesn't work too hard, but when I had the Alpine MRP-M1000 amp under it, it would overheat after a hour or so. Like others said, make sure you have a gap between the top of the amp and bottom of of the seat. The Alpine amp was taller than the 4 channel, so it was touching the bottom of the seat the whole time which wasn't good. I also had a 5-channel Planet Audio amp under my back seats before and it would overheat after 30 min. I'm in Houston.

I have a 1000W Pyrimid Amp under my back seat held down by screws in the tub. It was connected to a 10" MTX audio sub which has been replaced by a bazooka tube so my 10" dub and 1000W amp is for sale
