Thanks! Sounds interesting...
I'm sorry - not KDP, but KTP-445. Here's a link:

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?search=alpine+KTP%2D445&i=500KTP445

I see they still don't have a picture of it, so I guess it's still delayed coming to market. We'll see.

Anything under the seats, or behind the seats is a no-go as far as I'm concerned. You never know when:

Everyone in our group that day except the one guy on 42s would have wasted an amp anywhere on the floor or on the side of the tub near the floor.

I've blown 2 amps like this. I buy cheap ones from wallmart now knowing its only a matter of time...

(dual amps, dual 8" subs)

Waterproof. It's been tested plenty of times.

Not river proof though. I think I would flip it over if I saw a river like that. Luckily, I've only had a couple river crossings and nother that deep. Cool pics JBWood.

But if any of you are willing to test a marine amp by submerging it, please do put up the results...

If I'm going on any serious wheelin trip, I don't have the room to keep the box in the back anyway... so why leave the amps either. Make ya some quick discos so you can pull them out when you go wheelin.

I refuse to put my top up in the summer so I went with refurb amps just in case. They're cheaper, they have to go thru stricter QC and I don't have to worry. My amps are under the rear seat. I made a cover from mdf to protect them, I'm in the process of making one out of fiberglass now. I'm in the sand/paint stages and will post pics on cardomain soon.

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2520166

I've seen people put them on the passenger side fire wwall, or interior cowl wall, also behind the panel under the steering column.

i have seen people actually bolt their amps to the roof of their 4x4's. its not the greatest idea cuz upside down the heatsinks are completely useless and the amps are prone to overheat but i guess it could work if you demand too much from them

I haven't seen that yet but sport compacts have been suspending small shelves from the underside of the rear deck (trunk) for a while without too many problems.

i just put mine in the rear pass footwell, raised on 1" wood "rails" to keep it up away from the drain plug and floor. I'm not getting into any habit of going over the sills in mud or water
