For all those people that have alot of switches.

Here is a wright up from some of my friends on NAXJA.ORG. They have great information on running all power wires to one box and then run all of the switches off of one cat 5 cable. If you don't know what that is then look at what your computer is running to the wall for the internet. No dummy not you power cable.

I'm curious to see what the project box on the other side looks like. CAT5 is pretty handy. I used to make RCA cables out of the stuff with good success. Actually, it was a punchdown with a female RJ-45 on one end and male RCA ends on the other. I made these in about 1 foot lengths and made custom-length Ethernet cables to go around my car instead of buying expensive RCAs.

I went back and looked at the whole 11 page forum discusion and what they made is pretty impressive. I will have 4 lights headed this way soon and I think I will attempt to make a "fitch box" as they were calling it

I made that fuse box as well as his switch write-up. It's definitely the best way to wire up some lights. It's great having all the fuses and relays under the seat safe and sound.

isn't the whole point of a relay to have shorter cable runs, constant and switched? great idea to mount under your hood, in the trunk not so much.

if you actually READ the writeup you will see that he wanted to mount it under the hood but couldnt find room and he already had the power source in the back of his XJ.

Yes, technically I could. It's just pretty large for this box (unless I just build a bigger box).

I mounted mine under the hood. Passenger side by the firewall, then sealed the box with silicone.

I like the concept but I would use a multi-conductor stranded wire. I would be very afraid that the solid conductor category three wire would fatigue and break from all of the jiggling.

I've worked with cat three and it's easily damaged.
