Question, 98 jeep gc limited. If i install an aftermarket head unit, will i loose the function of my steering controls for the radio?

they make kits to control a lot of aftermarket radios with your steering wheel controls. if you want to keep that function, do some research on crutchfield and find a headunit that you can get one of those kits for.

So basically what your telling me is that i will loose that function with any aftermarket deck unless i by a kit for it right? Wonder if theres any head units out there that support that function without the need of a kit?

just look around on crutchfield. most brands like alpine and pioneer have the steering wheel control integration kits. i gave a quick look and these kits ae about 70 bucks and they all work with 'select xxx brand head units." i dont know what features you're looking for so find a head unit you like then check and see if they have the kit for it.

i think i misread your last post, but i believe the answer to that is no. i have been doing car audio for a while and have never seen anything that will directly interface with factory stuff like steering wheel controlls.

They make kits that let you keep your steering wheel controls. The reason the head units don't come already with the adapter is because different vehicles are wired and set up differently. It makes more sense to make vehicle specific adapters than to make vehicle specific head units. Crutchfield has them. I didn't check for your vehicle though.
