5 130W Offroading lights mounted on roof, how do i wire?
Hey guys, I just mounted my 5 Offroading lights on my rack. They are 130 watts. Ive been searching and cant find anywhere that explains how to do it with what i have to wire. How did I wire them up? Thanks in advance!

Maybe this helps.
I would get two 40A or 50A relay so that you can have 3 lights on one relay and 2 lights on the other relay.
Its never a good idea to max out the load on the relay.
One 130w light = 10A
For example you have a 30A relay and 3 130w= 30A relay will kill itself.
A 30A relay and 3 100w lights = 25A (you will do just fine with a 30A relay here)

I would want a seperate switch for each set (of two).

Easy just do this:
One thing that is not in that drawing is a fuse.
If it is 30A relay use a 30Afuse as close to the battery as possible

Thanks guys! So do I put the fuse on the wire going from the switch to the battery or The battery to the relays? And do I have to do 2 switches or can I get away with one? Thanks!

The fuse is normaly on the wire between the battery and relay.
But if you want extra security you can put a fuse on the + wire to the switch.
You can have 1 switch like in the first drawing i posted.
Just splice together (or solder) the 2 wires that are connected to post nr:86 on the relays and then to the switch.

Sweet thank you! I went to the auto parts store, radio shack and hardware store and none of them had the stuff I needed besides the wire haha. So I guess I'll buy the stuff online and try it then. Thanks for your help! I attached a picture of the lights on my WJ! Excited to take it wheeling in the night once I get them hooked up!

I bought this pack of Relays a while back and they work great. Have only used a few of them, sofar all is working great. And you can't beat the price.
http://www.amazon.com/AGT-Relay-Harn...s=relay+5+pack
You will be running very close to 30 amps with a set of 3, 130w lights, but you should be fine. 40 amp burst, you will need to run 30 amp fuses.
Then all you need is a couple of in line fuse sockets:
http://www.amazon.com/In-line-ACT-Wa...s=in+line+fuse
And the fuses themselves:
http://www.amazon.com/Littelfuse-009...ords=fuse+pack
Always carry plenty of fuses. I keep that pack in my Jeep.
Then of course a soldering iron, rosin core solder, heat shrink tubing, and a basic understanding of how to put it all together. Wire loom makes everything look clean..

also, these are the shiznit when it comes to connectors, we use them at work and there great, wee bit pricy though.
http://www.fastenal.com/web/search/product/electrical/terminals..
Strip and crimp, then take a heat gun to melt the solder pellet and seal the connector

One is a NC (normally closed) contact, the other is NC (normally open), so if the coil is energized or not one contact will have a complete circuit, it useful is you want to interrupt a circuit when the relay is on. Some relays are different, but most will be this way, check them if you not sure.

Like mentioned the 87A prong will constantly be energized so long as the power is hooked to the 30 prong. Just unhook the pin from the socket if you don't want to use it.
