What kind of antenna?

520 going for $68 on Amazon

http://www.amazon.com/Uniden-PRO520XL-CB-Radio/dp/B00004VXNI/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=12219698 38&sr=8-3

If you don't need the P.A. function the 510 is going for $38 brand new

If you don't need the P.A., and the antenna is a no-name junk unit, I'd go with a new 510 and buy a good antenna. If the antenna is a good one (Wilson, FireStik, etc.) and you can trust the seller that the 520 is serviceable, $40 seems like a pretty good price.

it's a radio shack antenna with i think 18 feet of cable. It's a magnet mount so I won't even use it.

I'm going to get a whip antenna and mount if I get the cb.

Well, if you don't need the P.A. function of the 520, and since you're not going to use the antenna, I'd opt for a new 510 with factory warranty.

If you're going to use the P.A. function, $40 is still a pretty good price for a 520, I think.

I ran a Cobra '75 in my TJ at times, at other times I had a Uniden 510. The 510 got better performance.

I currently run a 510 in my XK, no complaints.

The pa feature is "public address", or external speaker. You can switch to PA and have a speaker outside the cab.

No, the 510 does not have the gain adjustment. It does however have it, it is simply maxed out from the factory.

Side not, your not gonna like the wipe ant when you have to go on any trail rides. There are not many clubs that allow them.

I thhink I got the terms messed up. A whip antenna is the really long one? I ment one of the fiberglass firestick style antennas. Or is that what you are talking about?
