yes people have shoe-horned in two 10's. going under the specs for volume spikes the frequency. Basically it becomes more SPL oriented, less SQ. Go too far too small and you mess with the suspension of the speakers and pressures they expect to see and could cause problems.

Almost finished with the in seat sub build. Just wondering what most folks who have done this
used to connect the wires for the subs. I was thinking of some type of compact banana plug terminal
so that if the seat needed to come out, it would not be too difficult. Any thoughts? Best location on the box?

Seems like I have seen a picture of someone whol built this box with one 10" and mounted the amp on the other side of the box so it's all in one piece. That's what I was thinking about running... Any thoughts?

This would allow me to remove the rear seat and all components in one snatch just leaving some cables connected.

I'm curious to see if mine continues to be ok...

I removed the insert from the console, cut out both ends of it so I can get to the speaker and RCA hookups easier and mounted the amp to the side closest to the driver seat with some nuts and bolts. Then I just slid the console over top and refastened the insert to it with new nuts and bolts as well. So far it hasn't heated up at all...maybe I didn't give it enough time to, but I played my stereo for about a half hour then opened the console and stuck my hand inside and the air wasn't warm at all and I smelled no burning.

A little late, but if you're checking back at all... those are 2 10" rockford fosgate subs. I got them off crutchfield about 3 years ago for $99 for both of em.

Should I go with 1 12" or 2 10" subs?

that was me. going on a year and a half with it there and no problems - granted its only a 350 watt alpine.

If anyone is still thinking of getting one of these boxes, I have one I never got to use. Held onto it thinking I would have another jeep by now (Had to sell my TJ to buy the wife a minivan). Call me if you live in the Tampa FL area (813-787-3179) I still have a few things I'm trying to unload like this sub box setup.

Bump for a solution!

I need a similar set up. I still want to have the option to take out the back seat w/out having to spend a chunk of time with wiring. (I really really hate messing with wiring.)

what about using a wiring pigtail that extends a few inches from the box? i would find a suitable connector for the size wiring you are using. me personally i'd likely use anderson power poles in the 30 amp size because i have a ton of them around for various other things. be sure to use something that doesnt leave an exposed contact which could short out

Here is mine that I recently finished. Sirgal idea, but had to redesign it to use 3/4" mdf, and wanting to moutn the amp also in the seat. 8" Earthquake sub (150 rms) and MTX 421d amp (150 rms). Works great so far, but I want to find connectors for the wiring in case I want to remove the seat.

Is there a high enough pigtail? And pictures? I'm not too great at electrical...

Thanks in advance.
