Howdy,
I have a 2004 Wrangler with the 7 speaker system that I want to upgrade with an aftermarket in-dash mp3 player/stereo. I had previously used it in my 2001 Grand Cherokee, and it worked great. Here is my situation however:
The unit I want to install does not have it's own onboard amplifier. When I had it in my 2001 grand cherokee, I was able to use the factory infinity amp (as it was seperate from the head unit) to power the mp3 receiver. Does the 7 speaker system on the TJ have the same type of setup (seperate amp), or is the amp on the stereo built into the factory head unit? If it is seperate, I shoudl be able to use the factory amp to power my mp3 receiver. If the amp is part of the factory receiver, I am going to need to install my own amp and have no clue what I would need to satisfy the 7 speaker system.
Anyone have any ideas to assist? I would be ever so greatful!
