2000 Cherokee Stereo help, pics included

I am in the process of installing an new Alpine headunit into my 2000 cherokee, i have wired it all up, however it will not come on. I reconnected my stock headunit and it would not come on either. I then noticed a small cable that I had not reattached, when I did connect it to the stock headunit, all came back on. You will see the cable in question in the pic below, how can I connect or disconnect it to get the new headunit to work, any help would be appreciated. Sorry if my description is rubbish.

That is a ground. Cut the connector off and splice it to the black wire coming out of your new head unit's harness.
