03 TJ Speakers

Hey,
I have a 03 Wrangler Rubicon and it has the stock speaker boxes on the roll bar over head. They only hold 5.25" speakers. I don't think I'll be happy with any 5.25 and possibly not 6.5" either. I was wondering if anyone has cut up these sound pods a little and fit in some larger speakers like 6x9 or something. Thoughts?

You'll be much happier with the sound from 6.5" speakers than 6x9, not to mention the 6.5" drop right in without modification. Oval speakers are only oval to fit odd size openings and never sound as good as round speakers do.

You're not going to be satisfied with the bass from any soundbar mounted speaker.
