02 Wrangler shuts off completely with pressure under steering column

Hello All,

I am having an issue I just came across with my 02 wrangler x. The other day I started up the jeep, let it run for a bit and when I went to jump into it, my knee put some pressure under the steering column and everything died out. The motor stopped, the lights completely died -- all the guages dropped and then the electrical system came back on.

This ONLY happens when I put a little bit of pressure under the steering column. If I am just driving and do not touch that area, the jeep runs perfect.

today I will be taking apart the column, suspecting maybe wires are grounding out or touching to cause the jeep to completely die? Just looking for any other suggestions in the mean time.

Thank you,
