Never mind...didn't work. lol...mounting the new head unit inside the gutted old head unit left the new head unit sticking out to far. I *could* cut the back plate off of the old unit, but then the part with the mount that attaches to the anti-theft bar would be gone too, negating the benefit of using it in the first place...Guess I will invest in a Tuffy console! I did end up mounting a Smittybilt locking glove box, to put the head unit face plate in, and it seems pretty secure. I drilled about 4 extra holes top and bottom, to mount it more securely. They can get it open if they really *want* to but...it's pretty secure from casual theft. Oh well...nothing ventured, nothing gained....
