ZR2 Spare Tire Carrier?
So I saw a craigslist posting of 5.9 limited lifted, the whole 9 yards, and a spare tire carrier as well. It was a really really simple one, and looked just like one that's on a ZR2. Does anyone have any input on this? Would it be a simple bolt/bracket bolt-on?
![]() ![]() ![]() or could this be something custom?

I remember seeing that ad and IIRC it said it was custom. Ive been playin with the idea of retrofitting a stock xj tire carrier thats very similar to that one
EDIT: Heres a pic I found ![]() A JY by my house has an 99 xj with one on it. Im going to take a closer look next time im there to see if itll work |

That looks pretty nice actually, it looks custom and cheap to make.

There was a factory ZJ tire carrier that was available in 93-94 (maybe 95 as well) that would likely be a lot easier to beef up.

Youll def need to support the inner fender behind the mounting point. No way it would hold a tire otherwise.

you need something like my rear quarter panel armor i just made for my jeep
that would hold that tire carrier very nicely .. it is plated on the inside as well for bracingouter plate and inner plate are both 3/8" steel ![]() ![]()
