I started on the kegger mod way earlier than i expected to. i went to a pick-n-pull yard yesterday and got a 96-98 non egr intake manifold for $15 which is an absolute steal. i started today by removing the belly pan which is held on by (15) 11mm bolts and then i removed the steel gasket on that and cleaned that right up. i then planned out what im actually going to be removing from the inside. i figured on at most 1" off the runners and maybe 1/2" to 3/4" from the center divider. this will provide the biggest benefit from what im told. im goin to clean up and polish the outside of the manifold when i finish the inside, make it look beautiful and powerful at the same time. im going to take off the manifold from mine and do the same thing to it if anyone would like to purchase it from me.
im about half way through the kegger mod, i havent had much time lately to work on the manifold, but i plan on fully finishing it this week. i got my iro fixed control arms on thursday and installed the front lowers yesterday. before i was getting a really bad death wobble every time i drove, now its like night and day the ride is nice and smooth. now i just need to get a set of front sway bar end links and then put the rear uppers and lowers in sometime this week.
so since i havent updated this in a while heres what ive done recently.
2 weeks ago i finally got around to putting on my new rear hatch and then i tinted my taillights the same day. finally last saturday i put in my iro rear lca's and yesterday i ordered my new tires. i also bought from indredsnake99 yesterday a kor bumper light bar with 4 hella's, thanks again man. i mounted my new tires tonight after wrk and i must say what a difference a new set of tires makes on the appearance of the thing. i went with a set of 31x10.5 bfg at's and they are really nice. i barely barely had to trim at all, and its a nicer ride too. i hope to get some pics of how she looks over the weekend
tomorrow i think im going to mount up that kor light bar, no wiring yet but atleast get it in the truck
post some pictures when you can of it with the light bar. Have you finished the kegger mod yet? i'm going to be doing the kegger mod pretty soon myself and am curious what you think of it
yeah i definitely will, i cant wait for it to go on. its gonna look like a whole different truck. im just about done with the kegger, i just have to get it cleaned out and then paint it before i put it on. i wanted to get some better injectors for it but im just going to use the ones on it now. ill definitely tell about what differences i see with it.
no problem man let me know when you get that kegger done so you can do one for me
Yeah i should be finishing it up maybe late next week or early the week after, not sure whats going on now, my aunt passed away this morning so its been kinda put on the backburner. but ill definitely finish this one, put it on and then mod the one i take off for you. if you want i can either get the factory gasket for the plenum and use the original plate or i can get a hold of the hughes stuff, whatever you want.
thats a good choice, im just using the factory gaskets, but i got the two for the heads and the metal shim gasket from work for $15 for the lot.
are you wanting to go with a mild mod on the kegger to keep the the low end torque or did you want to have everything taken out?
i am sorry to hear about your aunt. i will most likely do a mild mod on the kegger since this is my daily driver and i very rarely take it up high into the rpms
i appreciate man.
thats what im finishing up with on the kegger about to go on, ill do the one i take off mild if you want or if you feel like you want the niners original manifold modded i dont know what youd do in the mean time while i work on it or whoever you get to work on it.
so i still have a little trimmin to do as the tires still rub when i turn in reverse. its not that bad but its just annoying and is kinda embarrassing too. im definitely going to get some pics of it tomorrow, now sporting an IRO sticker on it since they gave it to me free of charge IRO is great, their customer service is amazing im recommending them to anyone i know with a jeep that wants to mod it
the light bar is all mounted up and i must say its one very solid product, it was relatively easy to put on, and i still have to wire the lights. im planning on doing that tomorrow. i went and bought a bunch of wire and disconnects and a switch. the switch is a touch switch, turns on and off with just a touch, i felt it fit what i wanted to do, i dont want it to be just like everyone elses build so i went with a touch switch. it also just so happened to fit the female disconnects that i bought for it. i know i said i was going to take pics of it a week ago but that got all fubar'd up so im delivering on it this weekend. im not sure im putting the kegger on anymore, i did something i shouldnt have done and it looks 10x worse now
i knife edged the ports inside the manifold because someone said it would flow nicer than leaving it flat. does anyone else know if this was a good or bad idea at all?
