Yet another thread about shocks.

Hey guys,

I've been in the market for a lift for my 2001 WJ 4.0. Being a broke high school & soon to be college student, I'm looking to build on a budget. Its my DD, but does see some offroad action when I get the chance to.

Going to stay small for a few years, so I'm pretty much settled on Fat Bob's 2.5" coils. Had my sights on the IRO 3'' for a while, but that's a little out of my budget.

I'm asking for advice on shocks. Most of my driving is on road (unfortunately), so I'm not looking for anything too stiff. I've done plenty of research, havent been able to find anything. Ive considered Rough Country 2.2s, SkyJacker, DT8000s... Id go with Bilsteins if I could afford it.

Any input, reviews, advice or thoughts are appreciated!

Yeah I talked to Kolak about bilsteins, he offers a great price for them. Might be able to make it work, but that's seriously pushing the budget. I realize that they are the best shocks on the market, I was looking at alternatives.

Have to agree, they are the best cheap shock.. if you want good shocks you are going to be paying around 3-400$ each for a regular smooth body shock. But it will be the last shock you ever buy since they are rebuildable.

These companies are Fox,King and Bilstein

What size lift are you running? And if you don't mind how much did you pay?

I also have fox 2.0s but they aren't installed. You looking around $1100-$1200 for them. If you get the 7/8 shaft the 5/8 shafts are cheaper.

^ As of today, the Canadian and US dollar are pretty close. The 4" lift kit starts at $1,200, so if you got it for $700 that's a decent deal!

Have you checked out the ProComp MX6 shocks? I have seen a few decent reviews for them on here. Bilsteins would be my choice, though.
