YERFDOG 1/24 Build Thread

I got this in the mail a couple days ago:

Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited V8 (1/24 Model Kit)

The kit is made by Tamiya and I read a lot about this kit and it's supposed to be amazing because the replication is perfect. I bought it off ebay for $20 and plan on starting it soon. I'm in school and don't have much time for a model but I'll try my best to get this thing done.

I love white Grand Cherokee's so here's my plan:

1)Paint Body Gloss White
2)Tint/Black Out Windows
3)Tint tail lights and front turn signals
4)Paint rims black

I'll keep this thread updated with progress on the model. Anyone else have this model? I believe there are 2 model kits for the ZJ.

Here are some pictures I found online:

Alright, so some progress has been made. The engine is glued and drying, the Jeep's body, bumpers, side mirrors and hood are drying from their second coat of gloss white paint (one more light coat to go). Everything looks good so far, still trying to figure out how I'm going to tint the windows...

Pictures will be up later!

Tint spray, available at any fine Hobby Shop. It's meant for model painting.

Haha yea, I don't have much patience either but luckily everything has been going like planned. I would definitely try playing around with the suspension and try lifting it, but wouldn't know where to start. I'm just gonna stick to the instructions and use the functional coil springs provided. haha

Got access to a better camera so here are so more pics of the paint job:

Some pics of the engine/transmission:

I painted it silver and kept the valve covers, belt, fan and manifolds black. Still has a rubber band around it to keep it tight for the glue to dry.

that transfer case looks a little wierd hehehe.... anyways.. dude i think at the very least you can make a bb for it, or look at the coils and think what else you can use... maybe cut some springs from the inside of a ball point pen.. they make little springs for everything, you just need the right length spring.. and im sure the hobby shop has some bigger sized tires, maybe some mudders. dang well now you got me wanting to do this. maybe i will make a little red jeep now. it will be a good test for my patience, and well a 10 dollar lift kit will be way cheaper than a 1400 buck one.. haha

Well, last week I went out and bought a clear coat to put a nice shiny finish on the Jeep and also model window tint spray. Haven't sprayed the Jeep yet but the window tint came out terrible. Not the end of the world though because I'm obsessed with dark windows and I'm just gonna re-do them black, along with the tail lights and front turn signals. I got frustrated with the window tint so I took a break from the model. I'll get it started again hopefully this weekend.
