4.7 HO: 15.2 seconds at 88.0 mph
4.7: 15.6 seconds at 86.0 mph
4.0: 17.8 seconds at 78 mph

http://www.wjjeeps.com/engine.htm

Those are the best times for each engine that were on that site.

When I had my Durmax at the Z-MAX drag way in Charlotte, I had my friend race me in my jeep. the duamax ran a 12.78 and the jeep was 21.56 4:56 and 28" on 5.5 lift at the time. its got the 4.0. I know its not a WJ but its the same idea... looked really funny...

My Jeep is as fast as a 4.0 now. Tragic.

2.5s and 10mph difference in the 1/4 mile is quite a difference.

I remember seeing something on IRO's website about their exhaust. Claiming it increased the avg. 1/4 mile time of their WJ by 1/2 second. I think it was a 4.7 that went from being high 17s, to low 17s. So I'm not sure how accurate my first post is.

I'm sure it varies a lot from Jeep to Jeep, and also the driver makes a difference.

Not so much in an automatic.

Here's what IRO's website says:

We ran multiple quarter miles with each system and averaged them to see if there was any difference. With stock exhaust we averaged 17.62 seconds and with our 3" cat back we averaged 17.14; an improvement of .48 second!!! With this impressive result, we conclude that you can you can achieve .35-.65 .35 second shaved from your 1/4 mile time just from the higher flow exhaust system! Make the next step in your performance upgrades a cat back exhaust.
So their stock 4.7HO did the 1.4 mile in the same time Car and Driver's 4.0 did it. Weird.
