WJ Build Thread "Zombie Response WJ"

I wanted to start a build thread so that i could keep track of my Jeep as i upgrade it. I also wanted to get some input from other guys as i do work on it.

Here's a little background on how i got my Jeep. I had a '05 Dodge Ram Murdered out with a small lift. Long story short, drunk driver (double legal limit) smashed my truck while it was parked in the street... As i started looking for a new truck i started to look for a 4x4 with a second seat and that how i found my WJ.

It is an '04 Limited in Midnight Blue. When i bought it it had 76K on it and was as stock as it could possibly be. But, i have many many plans for it.

Here is the only photo i have of it before i touched it:

Pretty much the same vehicle that I just bought, but mines a plain-jane Laredo version. Same color too .

I'm doing the BDS 2" lift right now as soon as my Bilstein's arrive (see the thread on that lift here on the forum) and will put some Cooper STs under it when finished. Then I'm going to add a KOR roof basket, frame trailer hitch, and then start saving up for front/rear bumpers. I'll be lucky to get that far this year. I've already had it up in the Big Horns camping this summer and it really does well as is (even with the street tires it came with). Can't wait to see what you have planned!

Here are a few upgrades i have done so far on my Dub. First thing was my parents gave me 4 off road lights for my birthday, but the were for the Dodge before it got totaled. But seeing as my truck got totaled 3 days after my birthday they were too big for the new Dub. So i swapped them for 4 - Hella 500 off road lights.

We made a custom bracket to fit into the stock bumper. We used Aluminum strips that we cut to fit the contour of the bumper and then drilled the lights into the bumper with the bracket.

Here's the Lights:

Soon after that i bought a receiver hitch shackle. And decided that i want to do black rims and badges with yellow as an accent color a few places.

So maybe yellow in grille, wheel bolts, and shock boots once i lift it.

Here's the hitch:

Ive been looking at the BDS Coil lift, but don't know that i could swing the money for the shocks also. So looking to just replace the coils with 2.5" in the front and 2" in the back so it sits level. Id love to see what yours looks like once you get it out together.

IMO this is a good addiction to feed! Maybe not while I'm in college but what can you do? What stuff do you have sitting around for your dub?

So i went to the junk yard the other day looking for some tow hooks, and i actually found a pair on a dub with the front buried in the ground so i had to do some digging around the front, but to my amazement they were there. Im going on monday to grab em and will try and get them on monday night.

However, as i was leaving i spotted ONE JK Moab sitting by a pile of rims. I asked the guy if he had more and he had a set of 4 , so i talked him into swapping me for my chrome rogues (glad to have em gone). Got em thrown on yesterday and i love them. Looks like a jeep now. I think I'm going to plastidip em black with yellow on the bolt eyelets

Heres the dub with the JK Moab's:
(bottom picture is where the rim idea came from, so yellow where they have red)

Some stuff has been swapped out for new stuff. But the Rockford prime 6x9s I put in we're 8 ohm and the infinity kappa 3.5 and 6.5 are 2 ohm, so I'm looking to get kappa 6x9s. Got a BB I just got for $120, a bunch of small stuff. Like 5 cd players, all stock head/tail/3rd brake lights.

Wife can't wait to move in2 weeks. I'll have a garage!!! My wife is always like, you spend too much on that Jeep. I'm like "would you rather me buy heroin cuz that stuff is expensive I'm sure"! at least Jeeps are a healthy hobby!

I had a system with Kicker subs in my truck before and now I'm selling my whole setup, but i am keeping my head unit, my buddy said he'd help me put it in

When i bought it I was almost positive it had never seen anything but paved roads and i was eager to change that. After looking online for a spot to test her out i found a place only a few minutes from my house on the lake. My cousin happened to be in town, but didn't have his JK :thumb down: anyways we went to see what we could do.

It ended up being a bout a mile long "trail" if you want call it that, with a few rock and dirt inches to play on. It was a lot of fun to get her off road and put the stock suspension to the test.

All in all i was very happy with how the Quadra-trac performed, because i was a bit skeptical as to how it would actually work.

Here are a few pictures from it:

So i had some time this weekend before my new class starts today. So i decided to Plasti dip the emblems on the Dub. some of them came out good and others not at all so i went ahead and debadged the front and sides. Left the back ones on there for now, but I'm not sure if they will stay or not.

Also i used it on the taillights just while i had it out there and i was WAY surprised on how well it cam out! Plus you can still see my lights extremely well.

Here are some pictures:

How many pics did it take you to get the one with the blinker on? I tried like 15 times and could never get it. Lol
