I'm liking the D44 swap. Did you buy a complete axle and pull the tubes or just a separate housing? Also how did you go about adding the transmission cooler? That's something I want to do but don't know where to mount it.

I added a cooler to mine fairly easy mounted it to the radiator. And just pulled the rubber hose off the metal line added a longer hose to the cooler and ran it to the radiator line

The 5125 is not application specific, it is basically a 5100 with standard valving and can be had in almost any length so you can get the length you need versus compromising on length or application. FOr instance a lot of the 5100 shocks at 6" of lift are 3" lift TJ rears so teh vaalving is for a lighter vehicle.

JUst ordered a IRO tierod. Will post some pics when I get it installed, was missing hardware or I would have it on already. Hopefully they can express me out the missing parts Monday. Will have my JKS tierod for sale once teh conversion is done and the kinks worked out. THe IRO unit is over teh knuckle and uses heims where the JKS is beefy but still uses factory TRE's and is still low and exposed to rocks.

I'm interested in how the IRO tie rod is. It's something I've been considering. Can't wait to see pics and hear how it is!

I was reading through again, and I believe you had installed an aux trans cooler. If you did, do you have any pictures or suggestions that you could give me for when I install mine? Thanks!

not sure if I have any pics. It is pretty easy install, just use the zip tie fasteners on mine and added it in front of tranny line coming from the tranny to the bottom of the radiator, then to the the AC condensor. Ran the output from the radiator cooler to the aux tranny cooler then the I ran the output from the aux cooler to a spin on filter then back to the tranny. I like being able to quickly swap a new spin on filter onto the tranny adds a little extra filtration to the pancake filter and adds about a quart of extra fluid for additional fluid volume which also helps with cooling.

I got the IRO tierod installed, went really well, did not even have to remove teh tires, would have been easier if I did but was not required. Measured the width from two marked spots on my tires for a before width and then set the new tierod to get back to that width so I did not need to do an alignment.

Steering is tight, it is up higher, gives a lot of clearnace between the dif cover and the tierod, my old tierod actually rubbed my diff cover as I have an aftermarket diff cover. Also removed one of my SS that was really dented and probably not doing anything and so far no DW, knock on wood, :-)

Will try to get a few pics up of it.

That is what I planned to do as well. Run the aux cooler after the factory cooler. So it would be, fluid from the trans, into the factory cooler, out the factory cooler, then in to the aux, then out the aux cooler and back to the transmission. Is your factory trans cooler in the A/C condenser too?

I have been having conflicting research to show which of the lines is the feed and which line is the return. I want to run the aux cooler on the return line although I can not figure out which one it is!

What engine / tranny you have? Mine is the i6 n 42re. The original tranny cooler is in the radiator on mine. The return line on the i6 combos is the line without the check valve on the end of the steel tranny line. The chceck valve is on the output line from the tranny. Oh and take the check valve off and drill it out if you have one. No ill effect and lets the tranny flow more also running cooler.

An 2004 with the 4.0/42re. My cooler for the transmission was in the ac condenser lol. That was the key information right there. The check valve is on the feed to the cooler/output from trans. I made a whole thread about it all here I basically just dove into the project yesterday afternoon after class and got it all done. I did not mess with the check valve or that line with the check valve on it. If you take that off, wont all the oil flow out and have to re-prime every time??

My check valve has been drilled for years no ill effect no lag when going into gear. most everyone that works on them drills them out.

That is pretty interesting to know. Next time I am under there I will consider it. For now, I have had enough of the ATF bath! Thanks for the info!
