Just made a steal of a deal on this 94 ZJ 4.0 laredo for cheap, as a Winter DD/beater it does not start due to ignition problems.
If, sorry <correction>WHEN, i can Get it running this can be my Winter beater ZJ while i keep hunting for a perfect condition low milage 04HO.

Shows code 11, Crank Position Sensor, so i guess i will start there. Already got a used CPS out of my friends ZJ, so i can test this tomorow.

Also got a parts Jeep with the deal, plan for this is that my friend need the engine.
The rest we part out and off to the wrecker it goes, its strongly attacked from rust, but engine, trans, axles, and interior Are Good.

More to come, next step will be to Get it started.

Pull the IAC and clean it and the socket where it mounts on the TB. Do not push the pintle in or out, this will ruin it.

Got it running after CPS replacement, still wont idle, checked distributor and rotor, filled it up with some fresh gas, replaced battery, cleaned IAC andcTB, suspect That one or two spark plug wires Are bad, and/or old fuel, and/or need a real TB clean.

PO put Denso spark plugs in it, should i replace them to Champions?

TB is clean as H though,

IAC or TPS?
Or the aftermarket CPS?
Or maybe cam sensor?

I might Go with a Mopar CPS, but the TPS reads 265mV, might be bad TPS right?
Can try with another used TPS tomorow,

Anyone, all help highly apriciated.

Tried spare sensors from my another ZJ That was running before pulled apart, TPS, IAC, MAP, but still same, and readings Are within spec, thats why i am leaning back on the aftermarket CPS,,,?
Also read in haynes manuell That the CPS have to be insert to the correct depth, the original should come with a paper spacer for the install.

I was not able to push the CPS down, when i tightened the bolt, so it might not be seated 1000% in distance to the wheel inside, can this make it run, but to be off, how important is this??

Might re mount the CPS again later today if i find the time,

Conventional wisdom on here is that only Mopar sensor should be used in general, with some exceptions, ESPECIALLY the crank sensor.

As far as the paper thing, mine never came with one. Also, I dont see how paper in the tranny is good. Also also, When it bolts in, I dont see how there is any room for it to be in any other place than where it bolts??

Just get the Mopar sensor and youll be fine.

^^^The Hole and sleeve in the sensor is sligthly larger than the bolt, might be off 1-2mm maximum.

Idk what to do soon, thats why i just keep investigation/eliminating and asking,,,
