What is your extensive repair mileage limit?

Let me explain, I have decided that for my WJ if I need a new engine or tranny, and it comes before 170,000 miles, I will fix it. If I comes after, Im going to buy another car.

So what is your mile limit for extensive repairs?

Is it broken?

All depends on how the rest of the vehicle is...my 01 ram 1500 has 247k miles, transmission is slipping. I'll replace it more than likely.

Both of my ZJs have around 109k miles, one just got a new motor. Both 5.2L.

94 ZJ Laredo. 5.2 Crate engine. 6in JKS SA Lift. 33in Destination MTs. ARB Front Bumper.

I haven't found my limit yet haha. My jeeps body has somewhere between I'd say 260-270k on it, but everything you can't see is less than a few years old

I'm at 184k - and I've sort of established 200k as my stopping point in regard to "major" repairs. At that point I'll pass it on to the next owner.

I don't have a limit! I've already decided that I will not sell the wj. I'm at 150,000 and doing well. Just changed the pita radiator.

For me, it all depends on rust. If it weren't for rust, I'd drive my Jeeps forever, and just fix them. Motor, tranny, axle, bushings, shocks.... it's not that hard.

Frames, tubs, unibodies..... at some point the rust gets you, no matter what you do, and you need a new(er) one.

There isn't a mileage limit. But once the body is totally trashed ill move to the next one.

For me it depends on the overall condition of the vehicle, and whether or not I think they'll be a reasonable return. I have dumped money into an older vehicle and regretted it later, I've also traded one rather than do that and regretted that later LOL. Maybe there is no winning.
