What to take from a 98 ZJ 5.9?
What cool or better things were on a 98 5.9 Limited that were not on earlier year vehicles? There's one being parted nearby, and here are the things I think are different from 97 and older ZJs:
-rims -hood vents -honeycomb grill mesh -wood grain trim around the shifter -rear speaker bar -upgraded HomeLink module -PCM Any other differences (ie uprated power steering, heavier springs, softer seats, bigger sway bars, ???????????????) that people know of?

Other than the engine -
46 series transmission - High strength output shaft in the transfer case - Electric cooling fan - 150 amp alternator - Hood with functional vents - Unique roof rack - Unique lower rocker cladding - Reprogrammed PCM - Lower backpressure muffler with 3" tailpipe - Full leather seats with 60/40 split-fold rear seat - Unique interior door trim panels with leather trim - Leather shift knobs (transmission, t-case, park brake) - Leather center console lid - Rear sound bar - Leather spare tire cover - Fuel gauge that says "premium" only - Unique grille - Unique wood-grain pattern on dash trim and shifter - And probably some stuff I didn't think of...

I assume you are not taking the Engine or trans . You could upgrade your d35 open diff to the 5.9 dana44a with tac lock- limited slip. You will also find that the rear 5nine drive shaft and rear yoke are bigger. and You would want the 5.9's dana 30 as well to match the 373 gears found in 5.9 d44a, you should have 355 gears in your 4.0. Now, am I in the same ball park or are you talking minor swaps like removing Item's such as the rocker trim which is also unique to the 5nine, or don't forget the roof rack and the sound system is upgraded, the seats are Unique too.
You are throwing me with the PCM . with out the rest of the power train that will be useless to your jeep, and the does not a have high fail rate so I don't see demand to stock pile that Part. Hell, I would take the electric fan first. Because I need one.

I could use a high pressure fan switch - it's part of the fan control system. If you look at the air conditioning line that goes from the compressor to the condenser, you'll see two switches in the line. One is closer to the compressor - it's not that one. It's the one that's more toward the passenger side and will have the part number P4897616AA on it.
I'd also be interested in the fan sensors from the upper and lower radiator hoses, depending on price. Lastly, the stock PCM if the salvage yard can confirm that it's functioning. I need one for Federal emissions so I'd need the part number from it.

Sadass, I understand your confusion over the PCM! You're right, I don't want (or need) the PCM, I just mentioned it in the interest of making a fairly complete list of good bits from the finest of the fine, a "last year" 5.9 ZJ. I mentioned the PCM because as far as I understand, the 93-95 PCMs are largely interchangeable amongst themselves, the 96-97s are too, but the 98s have a very different PCM.
Kolak, this is a craigslist Vancouver listing, and apparently it was written off after being rearended. I doubt the PCM would have the right Fereal Emissions number, being Canadian? |

The transfercase has an HD output shaft I believe. Also, the 5.9 badging.

Don't forget the 5.9 muffler bearings and blinker fluid.

Even a standard 249 is rated to tolerate more power than a 242. Never heard of anyone grenading a 242 though, even when swapped into a 5.9.

All the Canadian spec 5.9s were built to Federal emissions standards, so it should be the same PCM. That should be a 56041519AA. It might supercede to an AB or AC at the end of the part number depending on when the ZJ was built.
