what should i do with my zj?

transmission problem, current one is toast.

background: im a broke 21yr old guy, just moved to cali from nevada, no job..yet. i have about $1200.

option 1:
get it rebuilt with a 6 month warranty for $1150 (parts and labor) plus i would need a new cooler and lines and a tq converter so abotu $1300-1350.

option 2:
guy on CL says he has a jeep 46rh thats rebuilt includes converter for $500.
shop said they will remove and install the rebuilt one for $350, total of $850-900 (new cooler and lines +$50~ im using full rubber oil hose, f the check ball lol)

Guy with the rebuilt one he wants to sell says he will sign a document saying if it doesnt work i can get my money back, my mom thinks i should get it rebuilt, but im seriously broke, i sold my paintball gun that i use for tournaments with my team, my cool phone, plus today is my bday so ive gotten about $300 all together, so i have about $1200~.
Plus I got a notice from DMV saying i need to get insurance and show them that I have it and pay them a fee, insurance is $78 plus $14 fee, I didn't need insurance on it since it was sitting in front of my house for over 3 months now.

I'm leaning towards buying the tranny off CL, getting it installed, and driving it.
I would get the bands adjusted and new filter and gasket of course and new fluid.
But I don't know if it's truly rebuilt, guy says it is, and he doesn't have any reciepts but he said he will sign something saying I can get a refund.

What do YOU think I should do?
If I go with option 1, then it may take me longer to get back on the road with the DMV thing plus I would need to sell my laptop aswell so I can even have enough.

I say look at craigslist and try and find a junior college to install it with their students or craigslist a used one and install it with friends or yourself....

Sucks though exactly what is your transmission doing

First transmission just went bad, Im not sure what happened, never opened it, bought a used one from pick n pull, turned out it was bad, so now im going to try the one off CL, $350 is pretty cheap for a remove and install, most places want $500+.

Hopefully it works out, I just spend $100 on a heavy duty oe like trans cooler (plate and fin) and 11 feet of transmission oil rubber hose.
Going to get transmission this weekend, and hopefully installed next week.
