It doesn't matter how tight you get the zip ties, stuff gets in them.

haha NOT.... how do you suppose the bood will vent when the shock is extending/compressing.... I think the best solution for this argument is to leave the boots on with no zip tie and wash them out with the garden hose everytime you go wheelin...

Threw another code 43, cleared it right away, seems to be an occasional hick-up on pot holes. Co-worker gave me a new K&N drop in filter for the wife's ZJ with the cleaning and oil kit...For FREE

To each is own. Is all I'll say to that. I personally have never had an issue with shock boots. It you put them on correctly you shouldn't have an issue. I'm sure if you don't zip tie them down enough they will get crap in them. But I'm going to zip tie them down pretty tight. And yeah if I get worried I can use some rtv.
Question: if they are so bad then why do they still make them?

Got it aligned on Saturday and had the wheels balanced and rotated at the same time. Then on sunday I went snowing with some buddies and brought my daughter with me so she could go sledding.

For looks. Seriously, people like shock boots. That's why you can get them in all sorts of colors.

I don't run them, and my shocks have no problem. No rust or anything develops on the shaft, and I got 70+k out of my last set of Doetsche Tech's with no boots.

I remember reading in the 4 Wheel drive mags that they always say to ditch the boots, they do more harm than good.

Drove it to the store to pick up a prescription for the wife - my starter noise (spinning bendix because it's not retracting fast enough) is getting more pronounced. Probably ought to grab a starter for a spare next time I'm at the junkyard.

re-painted the hood, after some header burn, used some ford combustion chamber cleaner, found out its way cheaper than moperCCC and seafoam, but just as good IMO, and i cleaned the injectors directly with a canister, and some ford injector flush (got a gift certificate for them taking 2 days to do an oil change, then the filter blowing off a mile later on my truck, so i though i was never getting it serviced again at that dealer, but i could get some stuff from the parts desk)

i think i traced my transmission clunking down. when i was trying to install my skid plate i tightened down the upper crossmember bolt thus turning it a tad and the large washer spun around and was touching the exhaust pipe. still have some noises somewhere but im glad this one was an easy fix.

Towed home my new CJ today. Was a bumpy ride. Can't wait to tow her out to the desert and have some fun.
