Jiffy Screwed Brakes
I fixed the mistake of letting my brother borrow my ride while he was here. He took it to Jiffy Screw for a "brake inspection", where they managed to strip out the bottom bolt mount on both front calipers. As luck would have it, the bolts flew off on the freeway after dropping him at the airport.
So I repaired the thread on the knuckles and installed new bolts. They were nice enough to "clean" the bolts, so I went over all the bolts adding anti-seize. Not wanting wait to find what else they messed up, I checked the rear carefully. Found fluid coming from the brake hose to line connection. The so called tech must've forgotten the lefty righty rule when tightening. Not as pissed about that one...it was frozen when I had replaced my lines, so I just slapped on the new one and bled the system. Damn look at how short the stock one (on the gound) was in comparison. ![]()

Hey Colt - What's been grinding on that caliper bracket to be shiny like that in that one spot? Is that from the bolt issue? I'd take that and show it to the Mgr of that Jiffy Lube location.

I can't talk to the manager at that Jiffy Lube. He is still terrified of me because of an incident where they put gear oil in my TC. Now he takes "lunch" when I walk in the front door. On the plus side, I can get a free oil and filter changes for life, but do I really want to? Hell no. I avoid those places because most of their "technicians" are just learning and my ride isn't a shop experiment. My brother is the only reason it got taken in...he doesn't understand that an SUV doesn't stop on a dime. That and he's Navy. ![]() |

Not really. Its a different range of frequencies. VHF-UHF is (mostly) used for radio-amateur communication. I only have a V-U handheld until I have my license. After that I might buy a better one with the capability to work all frequencies.(and in this case I will need another antenna-> AM modulation)

http://members.cox.net/worldwartwojeep/G503JeepRestoration/JonSchneider1942FordGPW.jpg Cheapest way is to use a plain copper wire without any insulation. The big question though is what will you use it with.

Where to start? Replaced front and rear passenger door lock solenoids, replaced oil and filter, replaced rear bumper, adjusted caster, topped off coolant, and charged a/c system.
Replaced idler pulley, battery tray, cruise reservoir, and a/c compressor yesterday. |
