i think im gonna take a page from McClouds this weekend and delete the roof rack. SHould give it a nice sleek look as well as save some weight. And speaking of saving weight, the TC skid is coming off tonight. Gonna sell it cheap to a buddy trying to build his ZJ for the rocks. This jeep sure dont need it

yeah, I think I'm gonna try to sell the WJ and have a stock niner. I can buy wrecked TJ's cheap and just build a buggy instead. Looks like the niner is the way to go

sounds like I better get the dub for sale then! I don't mind 2 doors on a beater vehicle so I'll probably go another route. a big reason for this is I want a DD and trail rig like you. I can't work on mine as much as I want cause I need to drive it daily still

If you take the roof rack off, there are 12 mounting holes in the roof. They stuck up about 1/4" from the roof. I filled them with set screws wrapped in plumbers tape. I want to grind them off but I'm worried about making it look nice.

wait......what? the holes stick up from the roof? or are you saying that the screw you put in the holes are now sticking up above the roof line? me very confused

The mounting holes stick up out of the roof. I used set screws so they don't stick up, but the holes look a little goofy.

Rodger Berkan on TSF was the most recent person to remove the roof rack and grind the little nubs off. He has some pictures of whats involved. He's got some other neat stuff going on with his niner. He's deleted the cladding and retrofitted WJ handles.

i saw the WJ handle thread earlier....thats freaking awesome cuz the old ZJ handles are not near as nice as the WJ ones.....but thats WAY too much fab for me right now. DOnt have the skill yet to risk cutting and grinding on the 9er's sheet metal yet........................one day!

Pics are in no real order since the tablet ismstill giving me problems.

O2 sensors showed up. Got a project for Saturday now. Also got the roof rack off. Looks better IMO. Saves me about 15 pounds of junkmi didnt need. The cross bars where flaking anyway. Maybe ill gain 1/20 of a mpg too

It was REALLY dirty under the rack. Got it cleaned up pretty good for now. Will try to get it spotless this weekend when I decide how to best seal up the holes

Got rid of some more weight today. Also tried to change my o2 sensors. Downstream came out after a fight. Upstream is really in there. Looks rust welded. Might try and grab some acetone and get it out later tonight or tomorrow
