How are your front and rear pinion angles?

To bad about your wibes.. With out reading your Front prop wibes thread. Have you had a look att your wheels and brakes? A bad rotor can cause wibes as well a bent/un balanced wheel. I bet you already know that but anny how. just want to help out =)

4.10 gears and master rebuild kits ordered, shame there isn't something between 4.10 and 4.56 available

Right, it seems I now have a set of 4.10 and 4.56 gears heading my way, sooooo, 33"s on 4.56 okay? I don't mind it being under a bit, my engine is starting to feel its miles I think

You'll be fine on 33's with 4.56's. I have 35's with 4.56's and it would be still nice to have a little lower gears driving in the mountains.

Unsure if I will do it, I have the tools but short on space at the moment. A mate can do re gears but he is busy with a few jeep rebuilds. Would like to do it myself but it will be the first one I have done & don't want to make any mistakes

Bit of an update, loads of vibe issues with the UJ props, back running a stock CV shaft that is about to die. Just sourced a 242 to throw under the Jeep and going back to a UJ front shaft, hopefully the 242 will behave better than the 247. Regear still not done, need to get a second car so my mate can do the work.

no updates for a while. Threw an XJ 242 under my grand today, regear starts this weekend.

some pics

Seems it may have been dropped on its travels, very carefully took the stud out, was more than 1/2 snapped

old 247 out

242 in!

just need to mark up the shifter until I find a new one. Had no vibes from the rear prop up to 70-odd mph (front prop not in until front axle regeared)

4wd again =D>

No vibes at all in 2wd, very slight hum around 70mph in 4wd but I haven't set the pinion to match the TC yet.

Shiney bits!

Drivers side wheel bearing separated when I took it off  Never had one do that before

And after 18 months since starting the job I have finally got around to installing my Addco rear roll bar
All the bolts sheared off in the old axle mounts when I first got it 18 months ago and my attempts to re drill them went off corse so I gave up. Finally got around to cutting & welding new brackets on the axle today. Pics later
