UK WG build

About time I posted about my Grand.

Here it is, nice and shiney 1999 Grand Cherokee 4litre Limited.

Bought in 2006 for 4000 with 100k miles on the clock. First job was sticking an LPG kit on it, 0.70 a litre rather than 1.40 for petrol, since it was fitted for a cost of 1400 it has saved me around 16,000 in fuel bills
Next up was fitting seats from a 2003 limited, 3 kids so 3, 3-point seat belts were needed in the back.

First maintanence was a new rad at around 140k miles, usual rot at the bottom.

Managed to fit it without taking the whole front off

Was wifey's daily drive for a few years before I got my hands on it, then the modding started

First off was a 2" BB Rough country lift and 245-70-16 ATs

Next up was a headlight swap for some sport black ones, the orginals were very cloudy. I found a new one on ebay dirt cheap, the second took ages to find Think I was looking for around 3 months in total, seems there are very few sport models in the UK.

At around 150,000 miles I decided to do the timing chain, wasn't really worn, just peace of mind stuff. Good job I did as the front crank seal was on the way out.

The "helper"

Ran like that for a while but the the truck was upto about 200,000 miles and the stock springs were shot.

So installed som OME HD springs, got around 3.5" of lift to start with, settled out at 3" after a few weeks.

Also fitted some 245-75-16 Grabbers AT2s at the same time

Flex with the gabbers on stock wheels was good, they tuck up nice at the rear

this is my personal RTI ramp (tunnel access to some of our land)

Not as good as my old XJ but I don't have disco's fitted at the moment

Next job was the exhaust, original jeep exhaust lasted over 200k miles!! Finally gave up so i got a powerflow one made up

Tried some 32"s with my 3" lift but will need to do some hacking before I flex on them, taken them off for now as I have some bits coming from IRO.

Forgot to say with the OME lift I also fitted some Quaradrive axles off a 3.1TD WG, handily geared at 3.91 so will be spot on gearing wise for some 265-75-16"s

Sorta up to current spec now, apart from my 4.5bs steel wheels being fitted.

My office is based on the edge of Salisbury plain, which is where the UK armed forces go to play (may have seen it on Top Gear when they play with army stuff). Some good lanes for me to go and play on.

So far I have killed 2 front CV driveshafts, the original one and a brand new replacement I got as new old stock from a dealer closing down for 90, it lasted around 4000 miles

So takes me up to last week, I hae been running with no front prop for a few months meant I missed out on some wheeling with friends so bit the bullet last week & spent a wad of cash with IRO
So will be sitting at 4.5" with a full set of adjustable short arms with the adjustable A arm, not the spacer.(yeah I know, expecting to go long arm next year, maybe just the front to start with) a new UJ front shaft conversion, an adjustable RHD trackbar and some disconnects.

So I am sat here waiting for Fed-ex to do there stuff so I can get spannering

What are your plans?

Just found out my grease gun won't fit on the grease nipples on the prop when it is on the truck Just had to take it off to grease it up fully, teach me for rushing the job

Looks great! I love the look of UK license plates and side blinkers on WJ's. I'm loving the right hand drive as well, but why doesn't your speedo have km/h in big letters? lol
