Transmission problems

Hi all thanks in advance for your help.

1. I have a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 4.0L, Straight 6, 2 wheel drive. How can I find out which transmission I have? The 42re, 45rfe or 545rfe?
2. The transmission will over rev when shifting into 2nd or 3rd gear and when shifting into over drive when acceleratng. After the trans warms up the problem goes away. ( I've read about the codes here and mine is not giving any codes. After following steps 1 and 2 there are no codes displayed or flashes on the overdrive indicator light, and odometer reads done.
3. Last problem my air bag warning light goes on and off while driving around the city in stop and go traffic on the highway it's fine.

Thanks,

D

1. 42re was the transmission for all automatic grand cherokee 4.0's after mid 1993.
2. gov pressure sensor and solenoid probably need replaced.
3. might be clockspring, might be something else, need a drbiii tool to find out.

You dont have an OBDI, so you cant get codes through the OD light switch. Try taking it to a transmission shop to see if they can pull any codes
