NOTE: for those SMD panels what I did. I took those lights you see on amazon and painted the boards black. (masked the leds) then used that ducky stuff. and tested them by turning the sink on and dunking under the flowing water while on. 9v battery. these have been tested they have been through the car wash a few times now no issues nor with my light bar and led strip.
why I had to use that ducky stuff is becasue I needed something that doesn't hurt the electronics like other silicones AND it has to be crystal clear. none of that hazy clear stuff.
yeah from my reading the tnt style WON'T work with a claytons kit becasue of their version of a stiffener and their rear CA mounts I believe? what are you planning on doing for LA? off the shelf? or fab your own?
no updates parts wise. but i went and hit the trail with a few new friends today.
unfortunately since my arb sticks out like a plow and i kind of tried to use it like one on a rock i bent the brackets and mounts on the bumper.
from jan (closer to stock) april (after the lift was put on) today (as you see it most up to date)
minor update here, I got a fire extinguisher for the jeep today its a smaller one but it's better then nothing. and if it really is an issue I can just put a second one on the other side of the tunnel. but this one is is out of the way of my seat when its folded up and not in the way of getting the pin pulled on accident. for those that want to do this here is the fire extinguisher I got, if the plastic mount that comes with it doesn't float your boat a 2.5lb mount from homedepot (online) will work with this.
I called ARB up and ordered some new brackets for the bumper that will be here in about a month, then I will add the winch to the bumper and add some bracing to the mounts to prevent the brackets bending again. and then do a radiator skid once that is done.
Nice build, makes me miss my ZJ. They have crazy potential and most people I knew would laugh when they see a grand pull up with a wrangler crowd.
not too much has happened since my last post, just some wheeling trips. I went out to Swansea Az, on the way out the jeep got almost 18 mpg going 60-65 and on the way home it almost got 19mpg going 55-60, so no complaints there.
And here is a teaser for some projects to be done here shortly, the leds will replace the amber lights in the bumper and will go on when my bumper brackets get here and I get that fixed, the winch will go on then aswell.
Also there is a back up camera system there so I don't back into any cars at the college parking lot or the mall. It will be tucked away so its only there when you need it.
little update I got the backup cam installed this past weekend. I called ARB to see what the status was on my brackets and after 2 months only 1 bracket is in the US since I am waiting on these brackets to trow the winch on and add some extra brackets for it, and to throw my DRL lights on.
this is the led half way into the slot, it hits on the brackets for the amber lights it replaces, so when I install it I will have those out of the way and have the lights facing forward for DRL and on night runs slide them forward and kicked to be flush with the bumper so I get a little more light to the side.
Well I got the new brackets in and installed, but the winch and DRL aren't on yet because I am in need of a welder and I'd ask my dad to ask his buddy but I'm not trying to be naggy about it so I am talking him into splitting a welder cost.
I need to add some extra gussets for the reinforcements I made and I want to extend the ends of the bumper to the fender line. then I can do the DRL and winch with a steel hawse fairlead.
but in the mean time here are some other parts and wheeling pictures.
5050 vs 3258 smd led panels
turns out with these led panels you don't need to water proof them, i even dunked it fully.
replaces those RC joints with some JJ
I got high centered on the center pipe, no pictures the camera lens was barley open and my dad didn't notice, so I needed a little tug, but you needed to go on an angle and bump it.
