update sooner then expected

did the bumper trim this morning

and i found this on craigslist last night

this bad boy, the length of the mounting points is the outside distance of the unibody so i think i can make this work.

i didn't like the limited amount of light output in the cargo area. so i cut some of my extra lights for my rock lights and cut the trim piece that holds the cargo light , cut 1 row out of each section stuck i thin k about a 5" light strip in each one. wired it all up and threw a 12v outlet in the cargo area too, i was going to put the switch and 12v on the other side in the dip but i wasn't sure if the flush mount 2v would have enough space behind it.

jsut so you can see where they are placed

before

just the leds alone

i will start cutting away the stock front crossmember sunday/monday and see how that xj bumper looks/ mounts up see what has to get re drilled to bolt this bumper up. then i will know if i have to just resell the bumper or go with it and post pictures of it once its done.

you'll need to solder your wire onto the lights after you cut it.

the bumper is going to have to wait till finals are over (about 2 weeks) i did some local wheeling today and tomorrow i will just fix some leaky seals on the 231

went out to corral canyon yesterday did bronco flats/ gunslinger then los pinos/ espinsoa trail then my dad and i did sidewinder.

went to go work on the bumper today and when i pulled the backing plate for the tow hooks i found the tow hooks to be a bit on the small side and the bolts that were being used are 3/8", so after bouncing ideas off Dyn0mitemat i will be doing 4.5" x 1' long plate on the inside of the unibody with .5" bolts. or 4"x1.5" rec tube but i don't think i need rec tube since its only a rectangle for about 3.5" into the unibody

when i pulled the tow hooks off i was able to see how much i will have to shim it it will be .375" total so 3/16" on each side which will be all plate down the whole length of the bumper mount.

well that bumper was so far off it would of never looked good, luckily a guy was selling a arb for a zj i bought it for 350

test fit on it.

i didn't like the black of it. crappy cell phone picture, i will have some better ones after this weekend.

the light bar, rock lights, ironman andy's trackbar bracket will be going on shortly. for a winch i have to do something similar to BigClay since i have a enclosed solenoid box.

Heres a teaser of my 20" lightbar on

I extended the ends of the arb, they were kinda cut to fit his xj. I didnt want to go all the way like arb but I thought this would work the best.

Looks good man, but it looks kinda cockeyed. Is something bent or is it the way it was cut?
