Took ther plunge and bought a lift, tires and wheels for the WJ

Having a TJ with 8” lift and 35*14.50 the WJ just almost felt feminine to me. I had to do something about it. So I ordered a Rough Country X series 4” lift, ATX Teflon coated 17*8.5 wheels and MT ATV 32*10.5 17

I guess I should start from the beginning as I have done a lot to this Jeep in the 9 months I have owned it.

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Special Edition
Purchased 3/6/09 Odometer 86500
4.0L
44RE automatic
Quadra Trac II all wheel drive
Mesa A/P M+S LT 225/75/16 (New 3/09)

K&N air filter gutted stock air box
K&N oil filter
Mobil one full synthetic 5W30, 10/15/09
Transmission drain, New pan, filter and gasket
Hypertech Performance tune

Rugged Ridge header

Stainless exhaust and chambered muffler no catalytic converter

Viper 5101 keyless entry remote start
XK531 transponder

Nokya stage 2 Arctic White 6000K headlights and fog lights

LED license plate lights and reverse lights

All interior lighting LED

Duralast Gold ceramic pads FR and RR with new rotors

Raybestos Tie rod ends (lifetime warranty)
Moog professional grade adjuster sleeve

Clarion SW1051 10 inch subwoofer
Boss CX1100M Chaos Extreme 1100 watt monoblock MOSFET amplifier with bass control
750 Watt Continuous/1500 Watt Peak Power Inverter

Tom Tom One XL GPS hardwired with Jeep start up screen

Cobra radar detector hardwired just above rear view mirror

My lift should get here first so I will have time to tweak it before mounting the new tires and wheels.
I cant wait! Add Cherokee Stage 3 Rock Sliders to the list, I ordered them yesterday!

Got my rack

I will probably just get sliders and maybe a pull bar style grill guard next. I would like a roof rack but then my garage would be useless and I enjoy being able to go through car washing. But we all know what happens when we start adding things!

Well scratch above statement I ordered a roof rack and sliders (see above pics) I am having a local shop media blast and re-gear my axles (4.11) when I start pulling it part for the lift, hopefully this weekend. I am also going to go over my undercarriage and touch up rust spots with Eastwood's rustencapsulator. And when the lift and axles are back in I am going to coat it all in fluid film.

I'll just edit the first post as I progress. Is that the best way to run a build thread?

Pretty sure, what else would it be? I just replaced the pan and gasket and I think thats what the parts counter guy said. I had a build sheet but lost it. The pan was square with one cut corner. The trans does have over drive.

How are you liking the MOOG ends and raybestos TRE's? I hav no slop or DW AT ALL, and my steering is virgin tight and I wanna keep it that way. Should I get something beefier or are they alright for mild wheelin once a month. I'm looking into a better stabilizer and a HD tie rod also just to cover my *** on everything. Then again I've heard of people who had no DW or slop whatsoever do these mods to "beef" everything up and come out with DW in the end, so I am at a loss as what to do. I guess the ol' adage if it aint broke don't fix it comes to mind...

I use raybestos on every thing I can on my TJ with 8in lift and 35*14.50s. It would eat up my adjustable front track bars end in a matter of moths but so far the raybestos one I installed stays strong. My steering was in good shape on the WJ before but with all those miles on it I figured I should replace them all. I will let you know how they hold on the WJ when I get the lift on but if they are as good as the ones on my TJ (which I think some are the same part number) they should last. Plus they have a lifetime warranty!

i love how you figured you should lift the WJ because it felt inferior to your TJ....Funny how we have the same thought process haha. The WJ cant feel left out!

Yeah once you have one big jeep its a downward, well i guess more fitting upward spiral. And I promised myself I would keep it all stock. Ordered new gears today as well!
