Did you go with 1.5 or 1.75 bore?

Im just worried that it would be too slow during a fast steering scenario. Like say sliding sideways in the snow. I sure wish PSC would respond to my emails.

Man I love living so close to summit racing. I ordered the fittings around 5pm yesterday, and fedex just dropped them off 5 minitues ago.

You only need 2 fittings, but I ordered more just in case I do another box. I also ordered -6an caps, just in case I blow a line and cant repair it. I could just cap it off and continue with normal steering.

Well, from my understanding the speed is not only determined by the shaft size, but also how much fluid you can move with your pump. The PSC pump I ordered should move stupid amounts of fluid, and even just using the pump alone without an assist system they say that a cooler is required to not destroy the pump. Buying a PSC ram and pump I feel better knowing that they know what they are doing as far as their own parts working together.

However, the additional costs are adding up as it looks like I will need about a hundred dollars of fittings and line as well to plumb the ram. Then I'll need to buy another fan shroud as mine broke over the weekend when doing the fan clutch so I don't shove the lines up into the fans at full stuff.

Still trying to figure out how to get the axle at full droop to see how long to make the lines, I may winch the front end up into a tree.

Looking for: 03-06 interior plastic trim. PM me.

Thats true, forgot you got the high flow pump. I just cant wrap my head around paying so much for a pump. I can get a 01 TJ 2.5L pump that uses a remote reservoir for 35 bucks at autozone. When I go to the remote resi mount, ill just go that route and mod that one for more flow.

When you come to get your aligment done we can use the rack to flex it if you want. Thats what I did when checking clearence on the 285/75's I had at the time.

I'm hoping to have everything in and working by the time I come for the alignment. If I'm draining the PS system I'll just slap it all back together and fill it once since the PS fluid I need to use is spendy. I'll probably just use the "flex rock" I have down the street. I gotta make sure I get the line length right as the last thing I want to do is stuff them into the fan.

Damn you're right, that is a scout box...weird. I don't know why they went away from the tried and true Saginaw on the 03+ Wranglers and slapped a scout box on that.

who knows. Only thing I can think is that they couldnt fit the saginaw style box onto the unibody frame rails and maintai proper clearence.

The steering box tap is under way, I have one of the holes drilled, and should be drilling the second today on my lunch break, and hopefully tapping/assembling tomorrow. Im holding back all the pictures ive taken that way I can do a writeup for anyone interested.

Got a psc 1.5" bore 6" stroke ram on the way. Now all that is left to figure out is the plumbing. Ive decided to go with all summit racing brand hoses and reusable/swivel AN fittings since I dont have any local place to by hydraulic stuff. While im at it (and because ive spent to much time doing re-search on pirate), ive decided to run all rebuildable AN hoses throughout the whole powersteering system (yes Greg, i was spying on your build thread ). That should make trail repairs a lot easeier. That being the case ill be ordering AN adapter fittings for the gear box and the power steering pump (im saving all the part numbers case you guys want to go this route too).

Ive also figured out my pump situation. I spent about 2 hours last night reading over on pirate, and I found a little secret. The pumps for the wj's equipped with a hydraulic fan (most wj limiteds) came with a factory ported powersteering pump. Apparently the fan draws an excessive amount of fluid, so jeep had to modify the normal tc pump in order to keep up. The best part is that it will bolt in place of the non hi output (non hydro fan) powersteering pump and is about 1/4 the cost of an aftermarket high output pump. The only thing you have to do is either a) block of the second fluid return port or B) swap your original reservoir over using a piece of 5/16th's hose as a big "o-ring". Ill probably just plug the extra port off. Stay tuned.

For the lines I just said eff it and ordered them from PSC, their kits are about what you would pay anywhere else and I got them with free shipping from Northridge with the rest of my order.

I assume you just went with the elbow swivel fittings and whatnot.

There you go, almost the same exact thing as I got.

What did you pay for everything to plumb just the ram? I think the kit I bought was like $80. I made myself stupid pouring over fittings when I did the cell, so I just said eff it this time and bought the kit.

Looking for: 03-06 interior plastic trim. PM me.
