what's the dot date?

my set of 37's are about 6 years old and showing some rot signs, so i'll have to make sure i burn them up this year.
i wouldn't run a set much more than 6-8 years old personally. i think that's the general dot recommendation.

Not sure, I'll have to check tomorrow. Where's it printed, on the sidewall? I know they were bought brand new less than 3 years ago. I don't plan to run 33's for more than a year or two anyway, so these should hold me over.

Damn it, I knew there was something else I meant to grab at Napa today.

The 5.9 control arms are just as bad as the ones in TPFB, so that's a no go. I'll have to start JY shopping for a set to get it driving.

Got the eightpointeight and non-rotted control arms in today with some help, and the Jeep's on it's own weight on stands now. Tomorrow and Tuesday night I'll wrap up the small stuff like E-Brakes, shafts and then install the calipers and bleed everything. Should be drivable by Wednesday night, I'm pumped. Up next is fixing the exhaust, then it's roadworthy. Squash was nice enough to grab me a TJ bezel, so I'll get that on this week too.

Lessons learned today:
1. RS covers do not work on stock height 8.8 swaps. They will make many unwanted adjustments to your trackbar/gastank.
2. My spider gears are BEAT, this thing is going to howl like a B rated pornstar. I'm just hoping the bearings are good enough to get me through til spring when I can rebuild it.
3. Girls still don't like the smell of old, nasty GL5 on your hands. Weird, huh?

From the time I spent on the ranger forums years ago all the limited slips are the same just make sure Your spline counts are the same on the carrier and the shaft

Other option would be to head to Worcester and grab a set of shafts and the spider gears out of the same axle. Kind of need the set anyways and the ones in your axle now would be good spares. Plus I really don't think you'd pay more than $50 for everything at that place.

True story. Want to split the shafts considering I ended up with the bum set now? The cross pin didn't feel like coming out of the other 8.8, hmm wonder why? All of this is based on the idea that when I drive it I don't find out the bearings are shot. At that point, spider gears are the least of my worries. Also, much rofls to the 'Gun Waven, CT'
