Not a major update, but I bought the IRO brackets for the 8.8 Friday, so those should be in soon. Tire plans have changed too, I'm eying a sub 3,000 mile set of MTR-k's on ravines, which should look sick on the ZJ. Hoping to pick those up next weekend. No time to get any work done as we've been fighting DW on Squash's ZJ, but I'll be getting into it hot and heavy soon.

The IRO brackets came in, and as usual from them everything looks good. I also found a used set of RE 4.5" coils that will fit the bill, they should come in next week. I'm hoping to get a hand bringing the 8.8 into the TTG one night soon so I can get to work on cleaning it up.

I'm also starting to shop for shocks, as the BBCS's I originally planned on probably won't be the best all around shock. I'm looking for this rig to be able to crawl slow, but get it when the chance to open her up arises. Bilstein's are looking like the best bet, most likely some 5150's. Anyone run these? If so what valving are you running, with what springs, and how do they ride? Thanks for any input, even if it's on other Bilstein models.

Unfortunately I hurt my back pretty bad at work this week, so progress has been very slow. I did start pulling the D35 though, the swaybar is out, shocks are out, and LCA bolts are out too. I'm hoping to slowly finish that this weekend, then get the 8.8 set-up and in soon. Tire plans have been finalized, I'm trading my 36's for a set of almost new 33" BFG KM1's. I had wanted to go with 35's, but I think 33's will help keep it more DD friendly, especially with the cops around here. The wheels are ugly, but they're round and that works for me right now. Hopefully I'll have some picture worthy updates soon...

Thanks, it's getting better, still not 100% though.

Seriously debating on pulling the trigger on these, but I'd probably be smart to get all the suspension/axle parts together first.

Proof I haven't been just sitting on my arse lately.

Dave helped me carry the 8.8 in yesterday when we finished his ZJ, so I took the time to strip it tonight. The center section had some serious scale, but after ~1/2 hour with a needle scaler it's pretty clean. The whole housing still needs a date with a flap wheel and a wire cup though. I shaved the sensor area down, and next I'll shave and plate the bottom, then re-weld the tubes. I bought this axle a few years ago for my old ZJ, and ground the brackets off, then improperly welded the tubes, now I have to go back and grind out all that weld Hoping to have this in the Jeep two weekends from now, then all that's left is to fix 5th gear before it serves DD duties for the winter.

Going wheeling in the XJ tomorrow, so there won't be any progress on the ZJ this weekend, but my coils did come in. I think I'll be ordering the IRO exhaust kit next week, anyone running this? How's the fit&finish of it, and how does it sound?

i had it on mine, didnt sound as good as my xj. the xj had a nice, deep tone to it but on the zj it sounded ricey. then again, i did get the cheap muffler. the v2 was what i had on the xj and it sounded bad ***. i now have a magnaflow hi-flow cat and magnaflow muffler on the zj now and i love it. nice and quiet but gets loud if you romp on it.

Finally some progress this weekend. Squash and I set up the 8.8 yesterday, and removed the old turdy-five. When we did we found the control arms in the rear are all junk, luckily he has a parts ZJ here I can steal them from to get me through the winter. Today I finally went and swapped my tires, so the parts collection is really starting to grow now.

8.8 in the downward facing dog position to get it's bottom side painted all proper-like. It will be getting the RuffStuff cover from the seXJ once I pull the rear end out of it.

New turhs. Like I said, I'm not a fan of the wheels, but they'll work until I can get my hands on a decent set of Ravines.

Tread depth, with a quarter.

I'm picking up all my emergency brake parts, as well as new axle bearings and seals tomorrow, so hopefully I'll have a few nights this week to get the 8.8 finished, then throw it under next weekend.

No, you kept telling me they would have dryrot because they had been sitting for a few months. They're basically brand new, with a little cleaning of the letters and some tire shine they'll be lookin baller.
