Picked up the axle and a bunch of parts yesterday. It's a '77 F150 housing, 2 3/4", 3/8" wall tubes already narrowed to Waggy width. It came with a full set of shafts plus some spare stubs, and the other guy I bought the knuckles/hubs from threw in another set of full width shafts. Looks like I'll have plenty of spares to break. Today I whipped up some spring pads after work, they aren't done yet, I'm planning to add a piece of 4" tube to center the spring, as well as a bolt in hold down strap. Hopefully I can get them finished tomorrow night, then get the axle slung under Thursday to start setting up the other brackets.

Here they are just placed on, the D/S needs a little more grinding to sit flat.

And some of the parts I picked up. Everything needs a good cleaning and some paint before it goes on.

Been all over Clist.

I was thinking it would probably be a good plan to check all your dimensions on this before you welded mounts on at all. Would suck to see someone was 1/4" off somewhere when they narrowed the axle.

Definitely planning on it. Everything will be tacked and then assembled for a test fit before anything gets fully burned home. So far the housing seems to have been done right, but like you said it would suck to find out too late.

And wheres my Crawl magazine from Saturday??

Just ordered ~$800 worth of goodies from ECGS and Randy's, should all be here by the beginning of next week. I'm hoping to get a few nights in this week, then some time next weekend. I'll have 2 weeks off at the end of the month before I start my new job, so I'm hoping to get the Jeep finished then. I'd really like to get a shakedown run in before snow flies...

Holy giant truss! What is that, 1/4" plate? I'm debating doing a truss or not, I probably should so I don't regret it later. Thanks for the compliment, it's all off the cuff so we'll see how it turns out in the end.

Mix of 1/4 and 3/16 , and the upper mounts are cut from 1/2 inch with the weld in Johnny joints might be overkill but I had the access to my buddy's cnc plasma table. looking forward to seeing the progress

Pics of parts because I've been too busy to do any real work. I did get the driver's side LCA mount tacked on, and started prepping the passenger side framerail for the plating/mounts. Looks like packaging is going to be a *****, but I expected that. I have Monday off so I'm hoping to get the plating done and get the steering/trackbar ironed out.

760's with full circle clips, pre-reamed TRE because I'm lazy, setup kit for the D44, pinion install kit for the 8.8 and a lubelocker for the D44.

Yukons for the 8.8

I went with the USA's up front because they won't be spinning all the time and they were a good amount cheaper. The Yukons for the 8.8 were only ~$4 more, so I figured it was worth it. Both come in the 5.13 flavor

Warn premiums.

Did some **** this weekend, not as much as I wanted to, but progress is progress right? I went out with a few club members on Saturday to clean up an existing trail and start a new one. We found some cool ledges that are sure to be fun when I get the Jeep going, I'll snag some pictures when I get to run them. Sunday I cleaned the knuckles and got them ready for the balljoints and Ballistic OTK TRE inserts that should be here later this week. No pictures of that because we all know what a spray bombed knuckle looks like.

Today I cut up my old Rusty's trackbar bracket to use with my new-to-me Claytons trackbar. I was going to buy the Claytons bracket, but I'm cheap and this ended up being free. It still needs a little finish welding/grinding, but I got it mocked up and it looks like it's going to work well. It's all 1/4" plate with a big ugly gusset on the back because overkill is fun.

The trackbar obviously won't sit like that, but I'm not cutting it until I have the steering angle figured out.

Lower control arm/pinion angle. I had picked these arms up from a friend, but they ended up being too short. They work fine for mock-up, but the new ones will end up being about as long as the jam nut to jam nut distance in the picture.

And just to make you guys jealous, here's my SICK torch table. Not a lot of people can afford one like this, so feel free to live vicariously through me

They're 'mid-arms' technically. Lowers will be ~25" and the upper will be ~27", IIRC my short arms were around 17". The longer upper keeps the pinion pointed at the transfer case during suspension droop, but isn't so much longer that it causes any caster change issues. In most situations long-arms are just too long. If your coil only nets you ~11" of total travel, then what's the point in your suspension giving you more than that? With this set-up I'll need limit straps and bumpstops to control the travel, so arms that were any longer would only add more cost, weight and packaging issues.
